As far as the league. I would love to see them come and play OPL. We need more good teams and this is a club with competitive teams. Let RCL 1 teams play in OPL Premier. Absolutely.
Therein lies one of the rubs. If a Vancouver team plays in OPL league they are not eligible for the Washington State Cup (OPL - US Club vs WYS - US Youth). That means playing a spring league in Washington to qualify for the State Cup, and if you didn't play RCL in the fall you get stuck in a very low division in the spring, if you get in at all.

So, in my opinion, OPL league and OPL State Cup have to be available as a package or it's a non-starter for the good Vancouver teams.

Or, how about this? OPL gets back under US Youth Soccer (OYSA) and all's good... not holding my breath.

This would open up Pandora's box. The SC team that moved to WSA made it to the Semi Finals in NWCL, finished 4th in OPL 4 points behind 1st, and went 5-3 against RCL Div 1 teams. If they choose to play in the OPL should they be allowed back into Premier?

What about the new u13 team at SC that gets to take that spot? Assume they will not be much competition for Premier nor NWCL.

Looks like OPL might need a better system. Maybe summer tournaments and past record.

Well...the SC team that played in the 2011 fall NWCL doesn't have the same composition of players who left to play at WSA. Given their performance during the GU-13 tryouts it would appear they will be hard pressed to play competitively in Division 1 of OPL despite Victor's assessment and continued involvement...

I didn't see them playing together against another team during tryouts? Did I miss something or can you determine how a team is going to play based on tryouts where all the players are mixed up with select players?

              Just a thought...

How about a system without promotion / relegation? If I was an OPC member I'd push for the Premier division of OPL to contain OPC member clubs only (rumor has it that Vancouver Timbers will be an OPC member soon). If we all believe the argument that premier soccer is all about developing individual players and NOT teams then any "new" system should make it easy for the best players to move to OPC teams to play with the rest of the best. Leave the "teams" where they are and move the players up/down instead.

You can get a pretty good idea by looking at who is at the tryouts. If half the players out there are already on the GU12 team and they are the best players at tryouts then...

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. Would love to see the Vancouver teams battle each other.

Thanks for the clarification. Maybe Washington can do a little Spring tourney like OYSA has offered. Why would it be all good if OPL gets back under USYSA?

It's good for the Vancouver teams if OPL is sanctioned by US Youth Soccer as then Washington Youth Soccer would be able to consider the OPL an "approved" out of state league for purposes of qualifying for WA State Cup. The value for Oregon teams is debatable, and has been debated on this board for a long time :)

Playing in the USYSA State Cup is not what it used to be, even in WA now you have teams not entering at the ECNL age groups. I think in a few years this will not be an issue at all. If you look at many of the top states in Region IV there were a lot of the top clubs that opted to not play in their state's State Cup.

No way. they lost all of their good players and the coach that got them that far. New team and they will be a shell of what they were at SC.

To add to this, if the WA teams couldn't play in the OPL State Cup or the WA USYSA State Cup would this really be that big of a deal? It is one tournament, should this be what stops or prohibits us from doing what is best for the bulk of our kids?

Yes it does open a Pandora's box because ultimately you ex-nemesis 99 parents are a cancer that has now spread to WSA.

Plain and simple, If RCL won't let you into anything but division 3, OPL shouldn't even let you into First Division let alone Premier.

Also, you are not the same team that you were in NWCL who are you kidding.

You lost the #1 player, assistant coaches kid that scored 90% of your goals at NWCL to age because the assistant coach realized that your current coach was full of it and riding the kids for wins.

You lost your 2nd and 3rd best player to VUSA (probably the only good parents) after they realized your current coach and team manager were two nut jobs (who are perfect for eachother by the way) and tried to get everyone to drink the coolaid to jump ship together and not play in the spring.

Lost your 4th back to the assistant coach who left in the first place......

Word has it that you picked up some select B team kids to fill your roster because you've successfully alienated yourself at WSA besides the random bug you spread trying to get WSA's A team players.

                              1. Ultimately you're going to get dismantled after those people find out that Victor has a snowballs chance in hell to coach at the new merged club next year.

                              Or,

                              2. You will make a pact to stick together and following him like sheep to Chehalis where he will tell you that playing up 4 years to find a league is the right thing to do by the players......

Really...................please don't talk again. Really, you're only making it worse for your kid and that team and please keep as much distance as you can from our team, tryouts were Gary's pathetic idea of showing he has smarts.

You sir have a serious issue. The team has moved on. Victor is no longer in the picture. The team may have lost 2 defenders but picked up some good talent for the roster. Wish SC luck moving forward.

The team made a simple request to move to WSA and play in the RCL. Guess that is pretty radical.
