It appears the Portland Timbers would like the Vancouver Timbers to compete in the OPL next year and in the future. They even want the Vancouver teams to compete in the OPL cup/state cup. Makes sense since they represent the Portland MLS team, but the OPL has a rule that teams new to the OPL must start in Div 1 at the highest and work up to OPL premier. My question is: Do you think the OPL should allow the Vancouver Timbers teams that were very competitive in RCL Div 1 to go straight to OPL premier? Why or why not?

Timbers become the State Office for US Club in Oregon. They get this newly joined group of 4000 players to all register with US Club, whereby they collect and keep $2-3 per kid by registering them thru the Oregon office, along with every other player in Oregon that is playing OPL/US Club.
Then they "encourage" the VUSA Timbers to play in the OPL by offering them "premier status" to all their teams, circumventing the other clubs that want to join and again lining the pockets of the OPL a lil deeper (which of course VUSA is not a member of).....wonder how thats gonna settle in ?
They might call it strengthening their league, but I call it manipulation of their association and lining of their pockets by affiliation.

Please at least make some attempt to pretend it is about the kids, not lining the pockets of those among the decisions with kickbacks etc.

GU17 to GU18
With the merger of FC Will and EMFC the GU18 team should be very competitive. If EMFC could get the three Eugene area player to come back down that would make them very good.
Both OSSA and FC PDX will field strong team again next year. That leave ESUFC and THUSC as the possible question marks. Will ESUFC field a team? Will THUSC continue to lose players and remain competitive?
Bring the Timbers GU18 to the OPL and give them premier status.

Forcing Vancouver teams to start in Div. 1 makes no sense if they shouldn't be there. Likewise, putting a team in Premier just because it was in the top RCL division doesn't make sense either if they were in last place. Both decisions require a little judgment. Most, if not all, of the teams play or have played common opponents in leagues and tournaments. It's not that hard to figure out. It really shouldn't be that hard for the people who told us all that they knew everything.

This exact question was asked at a VUSA teams meeting in March and answered by both David Hughes and Sunny as "Teams will compete in RCL, OPL or PML as best fits team’s abilities. DOC’s decide where each team plays, we take in all factors (competition, age, quality of team potentially, etc..)"

League, yes State Cup, no
They should not play in the State Cup. That's silly. As a minimum requirement, a team should be from the state where the cup is held.
As far as the league. I would love to see them come and play OPL. We need more good teams and this is a club with competitive teams. Let RCL 1 teams play in OPL Premier. Absolutely.
