Not just oppose but fight to the death

    Some possible understandings
    - All the OPL teams that entered won, this proves we are better because our best teams chose to play somewhere else

-57% of champions were OPL, 43% were OYSA.
On the Boys side 2/7 titles were won by OPL (Westside) CFC won 3/7
On the girls side OPL won 5/7 titles 2 for Westside, and 1 each for WUSC, Sherwood and THUSC. Oregon Rush tied Westside with 2 wins also.

So what is your point. If OPL is able to glide in and snatch victory with such ease, why aren't more teams doing it? Why is Command Central at OPC so concerned about participating in the OYSA state cup that they made public announcements opposed to it.
Ireland had to go to the THUSC Board to get the right to play in the OYSA State Cup. TA fought tooth and nail to stop this but in the end the PLAYERS won and now have a chance to go to a REAL tournament and be seen by many high profile college coaches.

Completely false statement. He was supportive of this team. My daughter is on Ireland. He was even listed as the head coach for our team.

I think this is all a mute point. To me it really doesn't matter whether the umbrella is OPL or OYSA. For that reason I hate the split. Our club does the league on a team by team basis and most of our teams competed in the OYSA state cup so that we could have a go at regionals. I personally have no regrets for having a child that won the OYSA cup. I suspect if she had played OPL we would have no regrets there either. My point is that there is nothing new being provided by OPL. That isn't saying that OPL is bad. How could it be since it is the same clubs and teams that have always been around? I don't know if her team will do OPL this coming year but it would be fine with me if they do. If they choose FWRL again that will be fine with me too. Really all I want is a good competitive soccer experience for my DD and she is getting that.

The only appeal for OPL would be for her to go up against some of her soccer buddies again. It's been awhile. It's all good and yet it is so wrong for people to come on here ans spew hate based on what??? It really doesn't make sense to me.

You are so right. The situation is silly and overblown. The concern I have stems from one difference between the organizations.

OYSA has repeatedly tried to extend olive branches and ways the organization can coexist.

OPL has sworn the only acceptable outcome is the complete destruction of OYSA.

This is wrong in many different ways. These two organizations should find, and their members should require they find a way to co-exist.

It's Kinda like the BCS system in college football

Thinking maybe take the 2 finalists from OPL and the 2 finalist from OYSA and do a mini-tourney to crown a state champ. Or maybe just enough to have the champions face off to select a true champ.

Just comparing it to BCS since there is so much controversy on champ each year... talking about going to a playoff system.

Well unless your one of the DOC that were part of the discussions (which Im sure your not), you dont know any story.

OYSA laid their hand out in writing for all of the public to see. If the OPL saw it a different way, they sure didnt do anything about contradicting of the statements made by OYSA.

And as a consumer I will base my decisions on that side of the story, until I am given "the other side". The only thing I have seen that comes close to another side are paranoid statements that don't seem to connect to what is actually out publicly.

So what is the "other side of the story?" Also, how can we all verify that it is more than just a DOC's opinion, or spin. OYSA published their statement. How about OPL?

I trust the DOC and the decisions he makes for our club.

And your kids probably plays on the team and a level that would NEVER facilitate them from leaving Oregon to play in a National type tourney either.

So that is whats best for you and your player. I agree.

                          Well then.............

That would require either sanctioned team to get player cards for the other organization, and in the case of USYSA, the OPL winner would have to play in a qualifying tourney of some sort if they wish to move on to the FWR's.

Wait !!! Isnt that what was offered this year to any team that wanted to play in the OYSA State Cup ? I didnt see the OPL offering that opportunity to outsiders tho.

It's nice that your DD is ALREADY on a top team but the point you REPEATEDLY miss is not every team is so lucky. Configuring ALL of Oregon soccer to have the same advantage is what we call fairness. However if your goal is to selfishly protect your Club and hoard all of the resources then congratulations ...as GW Bush would say mission accomplished...and we all know how that claim turned out.
