I would like to hear from players from different high schools about what their HS team does during the summer. Our coach charges $200 per player for a two week soccer camp. Is this unusual?

High school soccer camps
Many high schools seem to use this as a fund raiser for the coaching staff. Want to be on varsity, come to my camp. Typically they are useless. However, it's difficult position to be in as may may affect your player adversely. Ask the older players and/or their parents.

I can honestly say that my child has not done the high school soccer camps or participated in the summer league. She did help with the youth camp and really enjoyed it. She plays with club ODP/ Regional / and last year WPSL during the summer so there simply was no time. Even though she was not able to do everything that the high school soccer team was doing she was still on varsity each year. If you have time it might be fun for your player. If your player is too busy what are you going to do? I wouldn't worry too much about it or read too much into it. Any high school team that would not allow a A team club player on the varsity team for not attending a high school soccer camp likely isn't going to be very successful unless it is Jesuit. Good luck to your player and hopefully they will have lots of fun.
