    Vancouver Teams in OPL Cup

Since the OPL State cup is not really a "State" Cup and Vancouver teams play in the OPL I think they should be allowed to enter next year.

It is a State Cup though, why would WA teams be allowed. It is not called the OPL league cup. The WA teams have their own State Cup to play in, which is played at the same time for the younger boys and girls.

The not a real state cup is so old and tired. Let it go. The OPL state cup decides who the best Oregon teams are. Not OYSA.

Its not really a true state cup if you can do two of them. Lets be honest here, OYSA state cup sends people to farwest regionals where you play the best....thus shown the last time Oregon girls teams went down there a few years ago and didn't score a goal.

OPL State Cup used to send people to US Club Regionals where a team like FC Portland who couldn't make it out of group in NWCL, won it all..... and realizing that anyone could go to US Club regionals, they decided to send them to US Club Nationals where frankly the competition doesn't get much better.

If you can literally do both, then more power to you, as for Vancouver teams being able to do Oregon State Cup, it's ultimately up to OPL to let them in and has nothing to do with Vancouver being in Washington. OYSA is another story, they really shouldn't allow Vancouver teams to play just as Spokane shouldn't play in Idaho state cup.

US Club is completely different then US Youth.

Probably not enough teams in Idaho to have their own State Cup... :-)

I am not going to debate which is the true state cup (history versus real competition). But your statement shows how little you know. OPL State cup winners are not sent to US Club Regionals, they are advanced to US Club Nationals. The regionals is another avenue for teams to advance to regionals. The ticket to Nationals is the same reason why no Washington team is allowed to enter. The team that advances to Nationals from OPL State Cup is the OREGON representative.

US Club Nationals is the equivilent of going to a Mustang Stampede tourney or Crossfire Challenge...VUSA had a U18 girls team that won US Club Nationals this year....what does that say about the competition?

We welcome Washington individuals and teams. The more of the top talent that comes to our team, league or state the better off we are. Vancouver is nothing more than a suburb of Portland that happens to be located in another state.

Don't think anyone is debating that some of the competition is weak once you win the OPL State Cup. Only debate was why WA couldn't be in it and that was explained nicely in the other post. Whether the competition is good or not those that choose to go to Nationals are representing Oregon.

According to some Vancouver parents they're too good to be in our little State Cup anyway......

Unless US Club changes the agreement they had with OPL for joining next year OPL State cup winners will not get a free pass to the Championship but instead they will get a preferred seeding at Regionals.

They won the B bracket. Just like Surf Cup B Bracket, it means nothing

They didn't play in the Super Group...basic they won in the lower division. :)

Winning at surf in any bracket is meaningful and any college coach watching from the sidelines will tell you that. Being on an "A" team only means you have more top flight players not that the players you have are any better or worse.

As has been said many, many, many times here if more Oregon clubs would consolidate like OSSA we would see more success in the A brackets around the country. However to denigrate the success of any positive results at Surf, Disney or any other top quality tournament only shows what little you know about soccer and particularly development level soccer.
