That sounds nice, but that doesn't happen in the real world.
What happens is that the top player needs to slow down and play at the speed
of the weakest player, which is the rate determining step for the entire team.
It is coddling and enabling at its worst and nobody really benefits.
The job of the top player is to be the speed of playing and the entire teams needs to
work harder to catch up, match, and beat this person. The opposing team will definitely
mark this top player. This is where the team needs to help, so they can win as a team.
No matter how good someone is, there is no way one person can beat a team of 11 by
    himself.

Talk crud? Actually, the opposite happens. The top player's parents don't talk crud, it is the
weaker player's parents talk crud about how the top player should have done x, y, z,
then they wouldn't lose the game. Why bring in better players? Maybe, the current
players need to buckle down, stop playing xbox, and practice and workout.
If a coach shape a team around just one person, instead of the creating a team that
works together well, then that's why we have seven division age groups.

Being an elite player is about being alone. Like anything in life that you are really good at.
School, work, or sports. Most people can't follow you, even if you want them to come
with you. You can not drag along someone who did not earn it.
You move up until you can't move up anymore. Get used to it.
And this is what is wrong with the USA today!! No team has 15 elite players. (Especially Oregon) No team has all players capable of doing step overs. The team is a jigsaw puzzle and it needs to be solved. Unfortunately in OR we are still trying to solve the puzzle of soccer because of moronic comments like the above. Clubs chasing false dreams and try to mimic Barcelona or joining ECNL / DA when they are not good enough. When will Oregon produce a team of the same players that has stuck together for 5 or 6 years?

I suspect if you search in some of the potholes at Harmony, you may find a Volkswagen or two...

Everyone could do a step over on my dd's team. You should use a different example.

Any 9 year old can do a stepover, unless you mean this:
          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATMpYTGwaQA

She be Ashley Sanchez, So Cal Blues, ECNL, UCLA full-ride, like Pugh.

Well, WNT-U17 has 15 ultra-kill elite players, but that ain't fair.
I guess you mean girls who dream of going to Fastfood CC or Methford CC with their
2.7 GPA and 1200 SAT. Just thinking... if you paid for tutors with the money you spend
on soccer, girls can actually get a great education, get a great career, and life.
ECNL/DA is mostly fantasy and after school activities for the wealthy who can afford to send girls to school like Catlin Gabel or Jesuit AND pay for "elite" soccer.

I would like to think that a great education would be #1 for any parent would want
for their DD, not some crackpipe dream of a 1/4 scholarship to PSU.

When was the last time we had an Oregon girl get a full ride to UCLA for soccer? Ever? How many a year do CA clubs send to UCLA, Stanford & the like? And CA profuselces those girls year after year. Can't we work together to get at least one?

I bet they don't do it in a game?

Looks like she got her real training at OSSA, not CFC.

She played on a great team at CFC through u14. They won State at u14 and went to the semi-finals at Regionals. Unfortunately, the coach left and they couldn't keep the team together and she ended up at OSSA. She probably got better coaching at CFC than at OSSA.

Typical story at Timbers clubs. Can't hold teams together after middle school so the best players go to the clubs that can (FC, THUSC, OSSA/Xfire). Nothing new in this story.

That's actually no longer the case at CFC. Almost all the teams at CFC have been staying together through high school, the club is being run much better than it was 4-5 years ago. I'm sure you don't care about the truth however.

All the Timbers clubs are the same. Try to win with thugball bootball at the Ulittle ages and then teams implode and good players go elsewhere for HS. The leopard doesn't change it's spots.
