    State Cup Schedules

I didn't look at any other age groups but what idiot scheduled the GU15 quarter's late this afternoon and then the semis 14 hours later tomorrow morning?

Just another example of how OPL is NOT, NOT, NOT any better than OYSA!

Do not try to defend this scheduling because it is not defensible. This is not a club run tournament and there are not field limitations so just realize that until OPL gets some professional management it going to be amateur hour and our kids are going to pay the price with fatigue and injuries.

Hope your child doesn't play any other tournaments they may have to play two games in one day (gasp). The kids feet could get sore and not have time to play video games that day. Some times you play three games in a day if you make the finals.

Of course the original poster wouldn't know anything about that since their team has never made the finals......

Try playing an afternoon game in Portland and then a morning game in Medford.

When you are trying to run a 3 day tournament it might be "acceptable" to jam games together but what is OPL's lame excuse?

And on the note of cramming games together for 3 or 4 day tournaments I guess it's OK as long as its not your kid who gets hurt. Ever wonder why the older teams have so many injuries? Ever wonder why the MLS. EPL and all of the other professional leagues games are always 5 days apart? Hmm I guess they must be stupid to give up all that revenue when they could sell tickets for three games a week end like baseball!

Only in America do we treat our kids games as something that need to be "accomplished" rather than enjoyed. Only in America do can we have such total disregard of the advice of the medical community.

Lastly, with a schedule like this is the best team going to win or the one with the most/best subs?

Well since the bench players and subs are part of the team; I guess both the best team and best subs/bench will win.

Then why are you complaining so feverishly? If your DD supposedly won back-to-back state cups you should be used schedules that aren't always favorable.

I guess you just don't "want" to get the point. The "point" is why should we as parents accept this ABUSE of our children? Just because other kids do drugs or jump off cliffs does that mean we should be OK with it.

Just because other "tournaments" jam games together does not make for either good or healthy soccer.

If OPL is so much better they should prove it by running a better 3 weekend tournament!

With three weekends and the entire state of fields to play on why should we have to put up with "unfavorable" schedules?

There is no excuse.....period. State Cup should be the one tournament where balanced scheduling is the norm!

I want your daughter's name so I can refer her to counseling because with your attitude she has to be one messed up young lady?

Shouldn't be too long before she has enough free time to attend after her career ends from repetitive use fractures or an ACL tear!

You are a complete fool if you don't understand that soccer takes a different toll on a body compared to any other sport and that is why after club she will not be asked to play more than one game a day and not usually more than 3 in any week.

This thread needs to fade away, as there is just one guy complaining. Would hate to know his child would think of doing multiple sports (ie hs track all week and club soccer). smh

One more time the POINT is that there is no good reason to have games so close together when you have THREE weekends to play a five game tourney.

I'm laughing at all of you who thinks is OK or alright when it's not your bodies that are out there.....kinda like politicians sending kids to war....it an easy vote when its not your butt on the line. Well the same holds true here. It's easy for the OPL scheduler to jam these games together after all she doesn't, or couldn't for that matter, have to play them.

If you talk to the orthopedic doctors they would tell you that yes the young body can "handle" a lot of activity but they would also tell you to expect a drop off in performance and in increase in injuries. If that is how you think we "should" treat our kids I feel sorry for you.

A fool for your wife cooking. I have to admit though, I'm getting kind of sick of her. Maybe if you were'nt such a damn pussy, she would spend more time at your house.
