    Coaching situations

OK our local club has the following situations that I would like some advice on.

#1 is we have 2 U11 Girls teams with some U10's on both teams. There really is enough to make a U11 and a U10 but one of the coaches was insistent that break up this group of girls based on ability. So yes we do have a problem with insistent coaches getting their way. This same insistent coach also coaches a Boys U11 team and she has a kid on each team that she coaches.

We had a situation where the U11 Boys were playing a game the same time as our U12 Boys team was playing a game at the same complex on fields right next to one another. The insistent coach of the Boys U11 team had 2 subs. However the U12 Boys team playing at the same time actually only had 10 players because of 2 players missing the game.

We had sent a notice out to all of our coaches notifying them of a couple of our teams that had skinny rosters that they help out any of our shorthanded players by loaning them a player or two. In this particular case, the insistent coach of the U11 Boys would not give up one of her players to help out the shorthanded U12 team. Not very nice in my opinion.

Then we had another situation. This same insistent coach was coaching her U11 Girls team. She has two subs for that team so all of her players were at the game. She borrowed 2 players from the weaker U11 Girls team to come help out her team. And then she started the borrowed players over her own players and one of her own players did not even get to play.

In my view this insistent coach is a big problem. On one hand she will not share a player from one of her teams still giving her a sub and helping out the shorthanded team. Then on the other hand she borrows players from other teams when she has her full roster and then sits her own players so the borrowed player can play.

My view is this coach is completely 100% out of line. She is a good coach with a real bad attitude towards the club and anyone in the club including other teams unless things suit her. Would like some other opinion on this coach and what sort of actions should be taken.

#2 involves this same insistent coach. It is my view that this insistent coach has a beef with the club because she was not selected as the DOC a couple of years ago. So because of this beef that she has, she has been leading a mutiny of parents to cause problems for the club. It has led to actually a hostile takeover of the club and now the insistent coach's husband has been appointed club president. Many believe it is the intention of the new president to hire his wife as the DOC. Thoughts on this?

Get far away from that club as quickly as you can.

Only bad things can come from this situation. Find the best coach you can for your child and realize that the "club" mentality if not for the benefit of the children but the adults!

        Any thoughts?

Get out and get the families out that you're friends with.

There are a lot of different clubs. Go find the right place for you and your kid. Oh and don't ask on this forum which club is the best.

How much nepotism can one club have? Husband is president, wife is coach (and maybe new DOC) and daughter and son both play for wife. Sheesh.

I suspect that the parents on her team, especially the girls team, will soon start to leave. How do you not play a player in a U11 game, especially when you have 15 players. That's rediculous. And what is that kid doing on the "stronger" team when players from the "weaker" team play in front of her? If I were her parent, I would be over at that "weaker" team as soon as possible and then on to a new club at the first opportunity.

If I were you, I'd double time it to a new club and watch in the rearview mirror as this club implodes. The Dad as president and Mom as DOC will likely drive off the other coaches and most of the players.

On a different thread, there would be people arguing that less players means more touches and therefore better development....

Your coaches make money during a local tournament? Even at Westside we don't pay our coaches for local tournaments. That should be included with their initial registration cost, not extra.
