will be the current U14 age group. This team should be pretty competitive seeing that this age group is pretty deep in talent. Anyone think there will a lot of movement for the upcoming U15 tryouts in August?

are we talking a HUGE money grab by the Timbers Alliance clubs ?
Or are we talking an ODP like environment, where there will be tryouts, a group of say 30 are selected and from that two teams are formed. This group of girls will be trained (possibly) at one of the training centers by someone other then the staff at one of these alliance clubs ?
Cause if it's the first, then Id say no. If it's the later, then id say YES.

My guess is you will see a level of professionalism that OR youth soccer has never seen before. Our youth clubs are run by volunteers and our DOCs are only par at best.
The programming from the Timbers will be first rate for boys and girls.
The 3 Alliance clubs have no idea of the standards they will be required to meet. They will have to get their houses in order quickly and it won't be easy or inexpensive. They will be required to upgrade their Club admin / coaching staffs / facilities, not to mention hold themselves to a higher standard of conduct and productivity.
Personally I don't see how they will do this without raising fees as they will have to hire paid executive directors, better coaches and provide top notch facilities. Don't know what the time frame is but I'm sure the Timbers want it now!

Don't....
Get your hopes up. This is a branding. Simply a marketing scheme. No clubs involved will be any different. If you believe any extra hype you are a sucker! Only thing they could do is trade players around like Rage and Usonians do already. No other sharing will happen between the Eastside and Westside when the DOCs hate each other. Just choose wisely and don't fall for ALL the promises.

Since none of it has been made public via a website or otherwise, Im assuming that this is a all just talk at this point, probably by one of the alliance clubs to some of their customers.
Everyone just keep an eye out either on the Timbers website or any one of the three alliance clubs sites.
It is bound to happen. Lets face it GW knows how to run a club and make money from it (something MP is all about) and Im sure that this whole Youth soccer involvement is where they are headed. Why wouldnt they ?
If you see something posted, please share a link.

No it is not a done deal. According to Mike Smith it will start with the current U13G not, U14 and in 2013. It will have nothing to do with the Timbers Alliance but with the Timbers just like the boys DA. Open try outs with coaches that are not affliated with the Timbers alliance clubs. Won't matter where you play as long as you're talented.

I think this thread must have gotten started by someone from a weak arse timbers alliance club who knows they have nothing on the girls side and tehy lose girls every year to clubs who can actually develop girls like OSSA, THUSC, and FC Portland. I imagine we will see alot more of this bull crap as tryouts draw near in May.

Might be wise to base decisions on facts?

I used to live in a city where an MLS club existed and they too tried better market soccer by trying to create an elite club. They were very successful in taking about $3,500 per year from parents that were willing to write checks, but they were not competitive on the field because 99% of players stayed with the elite clubs.

I agree with the other poster that said you will hear a lot from WSM and ESUFC about the girls as they fear they will lose quite a few of them to OSSA, FC and THUSC. If the girls were smart they'd all leave. WSM and ESUFC will only care about the boys development even more now.
