Here's the problem we've all forgotten for the last little bit. The turf fields at the Rec Center in particular were made possible by the money put down by THUSC/WSM before they were built -- so while Rec/Classic may pay the same fees now, THUSC/WSM get preferential treatment in some cases because ON THE WHOLE they have invested more.
Does this mean that classic should always get the benefit of the doubt? Of course not. In the fall, Classic comes third on the list for fields after high school athletics and recreational teams. In the winter, most of the grass fields are not able to be used, so the clubs and other athletic teams lose out on that. In the spring, soccer is not the priority sport, and lacrosse at both the recreational and high school level takes has priority.
When your child signs up to play -- whether it be classic or rec -- some of the fees associated are what pay for field usage. So while yes, more kids are involved in recreational sports, they DO get priority during the fall season. Soccer is NOT the priority sport the rest of the year, and so field usage gets messed up.
So support your kids, wherever they're at. Regardless if you have an 8 year in rec or a 17 year old in club soccer, a portion of both fees will go towards field usage -- no matter what.

Rec brings in the players that make the classic clubs possible. Period.

You really sound like an elitist and jerk. I hope that serves you well in life. Your view doesn't serve any of us well at all. I would suggest you keep views like this to yourself.

Pay no attention to numb nuts. He's got a kid that's into classic soccer now and thinks he's beyond rec.
He firmly believes that his kid jumped out of the womb with a pair of cleats on and has been the very best this state has seen in 10 years.
Yet, Im sure his player hasnt made an ODP team yet, and swears it's beneath him.
He'll be the first to blame the whole world why junior hasnt been selected, as it's "always" someone's fault (other then his).

The name calling, insults and immature comments made reflect poorly on the rec community as a whole. It takes a few nasty folks to ruin the reputation of the greater community, a combination of both rec and classic KIDS and their supporters. I would suggesting capping the attitude as it does nothing to further your cause.
