Im sure your just here to argue, but Ill try and explain it to you like a 3rd grader would understand.

It's called quality. By demanding up front (full disclosure) that the top finisher represent the state or face sanctions for not doing so, they ensure that the rest of the teams that participate will as well have a formidable opponent to face. That's what makes a quality tournament made of up teams from 13 states.

Unlike the US Club national tourney, you know that not every state is represented, and even those that are, dont send all their winning teams. So you might just get there an have nobody worthy to play.

I dunno ... look at it as some easy practice before FWR!
US Club Regionals ..... nuthing more than any other summer tournament. Same teams / same old - same old. Whoopeee.
Look at FWR where you play champions of: Cal South / Cal North / Utah / AZ / NM / AK / WA / ID / MT .... NO COMPARISON.
It would be nice to have some competition in the OYSA State Cup but the opportunity to play in the FWR should be motivation enough .....

Hmm, let's see; there's only 1 other team in our OYSA State Cup bracket. We beat them and are now crowned State Cup Champion! Problem is, we've never played Premier?!? Now we pay a boat load of ca$h to go to FWR and "play champions of: Cal South / Cal North / Utah / AZ / NM / AK / WA / ID / MT ...." and get slaughtered and embarrassed. Whoopee! Sure glad we paid the ca$h for this great experience!!

But he's just to stubborn to know it. Right now his blood pressure is thru the roof cause nobody is coming to his rescue here and he's fighting a fight that nobody cares about.

His team/club made the choice for him, and although he's probably not happy about it, he's less made at them then the time before.

And you play the same teams you've been being beaten by all year, loose in the quarter finals, go to Seattle to win the "B" division, just so you can say you went to the Nationals..............to play nobody and loose there too. Yahooo, look at us.

Neither option is very good, but Id be much more proud taking my chances against other true state cup champs in hopes that we might just win a game or two, then to waste it on playing nobody from no where.

So if Chuck resigned and John promised to go back to coaching I think Oregon soccer might have a change to progress together instead we have JB and TA hell bent on creating their own fiefdoms with little regard the effect their actions are having on the balance of the state.
