Many "college" level coaches, mainly assistants and some heads, are not even as qualified as the club coaches they are recruiting players from.

I am talking about D-1 big program coaches that I know, don't know but a handful of D-3 coaches. All of them at a higher level than a small percentage of club coaches. Why do you think club coaches that are full time coaches, most of them, want to get paid very small amounts? Maybe because they can't get a better job at a higher level. Just read the criticisms of DOC's here locally on this board, realizing that most are overstatements, but probably have a basis in fact. I hope your not a club coach; if you are you would know better. Maybe I need to list college jobs that local club coaches have tried for and not gotten, including DOC's.

That depends upon the rumors. If there was some strong basis for them, then that's not really that bad. However if he just made up stuff and spread it around, then I agree. As an example, way back in high school, there was a rumor that the hot teacher didn't wear underwear. Now, based upon the fact that she had no visible panty lines and close (I mean close) examination of the potential for her wearing underware yielded a strong presumption that the rumor was in fact true, then we had no problem taking the rumor and running with it. Unfortunately, none of us could actually confirm the rumor. However, that doesn't mean the rumor didn't have a strong basis in fact. So you see, it really depends upon the rumor that he was spreading and the basis for the rumor.

So how about the coach (or higher) who sits on the US Club board? How does that person meet the standards of #10? Lacking, lacking, and lacking.

Why does US Club/ECNL allow their staff to also be coaches of clubs in the leagues. This does seem to be conflict of interest. Advisory boards yes, but making the rules and club selection...? And seems like some of the staff or their own reps are on this board defending..strange.Maybe a feedback survey from their own side would be better but this seems to lack among the soccer world.

lol you must be a person that followed this story on the forum and word of mouth. If you truly knew the situation you would realize that the rumors weren't started by Cony. There originally weren't rumors. A few parents took a true fact and twisted it it to something beyond truth. Westside was not forced to apologize. They wrote a letter of clarification.

Westside and THUSC want to merge. Cony and TA do not. The rest of the coaches and board members are doing all they can to try and pull the 2 together. The letter was out of respect....

Westside and THUSC want to merge. Cony and TA do not. The rest of the coaches and board members are doing all they can to try and pull the 2 together. The letter was out of respect....

I guess this has to be posted in every thread that mentions a THUSC & WSM merger. Again the two Boards sat in a room about 14 months ago and THUSC proposed a "merger". The WSM BOARD was not interested and said they would gladly take the cash reserves and the coaches but were not going to merge either the boards or the DOC's.

Given WSM track record with girls that would have been a great disservice to the THUCE teams and the two groups parted ways with the line drawn by WSM.

Now you can say Cony doesn't want to merge but I have to say at that meeting the WSM board was calling the shots.

Given recent events, and the previous calls for more parental involvement/oversight for our children, I find the following standard in the document troublesome:

23.5. Limit parental presence at trainings to create a professional educational environment.

Under the Current WSM Board...Yes

There is zero chance of THUSC and WSM merging.

At some point in the future, after a year or two of the Timbers DA program, WSM's Board may come to a different conclusion. At this point in time it is on their shoulders and don't let anybody tell you otherwise!

"your kids" and there is a big difference in players who are 10-17 vs. U18. What young player will ever stand up for themselves against a bully coach... Good coaches would want parents to watch and be available to answer questions. (note, I said answer questions, not take direction from parents.)

On the flip side of the guideline, it should say "coaches should limit contact/time with all parents limited to discussons on business matters/team matters/player matters only - to maintain a level of professionalism".

Yes very true especially when TA says that thusc will never merge. He continues to try to merge with other clubs ( sherwood and hillsboro as examples) Until thusc boards stops being TA's puppet then nothing will happen. Problem is that thusc thinks they are an equal to WSM but they are not in any way you want measure, either in success or organization.
