    EXCUSES EXCUSES EXCUSES

Salmon Creek has always dodged to Challenge cup so they don't have to play top level Washington Clubs after the development of 11 a side has been put in. Anything you can do to get a win right?

I should also point out this......If the team can win without the 4 for challenge cup......what can they do with the 4 for challenge cup......not much confidence in the rest ehhhh?
    Dude, chill out!

Salmon Creek U12G played in NWCL so they play against some of the top Washington teams.

My daughter plays for an Oregon team and we have played against both Salmon Creek and Timbers. Both clubs are very competitive at the U12G and would be top 4 or 5 in the Portland/Vancouver Metro area (Timbers, Salmon Creek, THUSC, FC Portland)

This is U12 soccer. Most likely most of the girls will stop playing soccer after HS. Some will be fortunate to play in college. None of them will make a living playing soccer. What are we hoping our girls learn from playing this game? Courage, Sportsmanship, etc...

This going back and forth between adults is really stupid.

      Agreed.

A friend just referred me to this thread and I have to share our family's experiences.

My daughter was approached by Victor after one of her games for a different club. He told her that she was very talented and should be playing against higher competition for college, scholarships, etc. because her team wasn't good enough for her development We moved over to Salmon Creek and she played under him for a year. During that year, she went from a starter on her former team to riding the bench for 80-90% of every game. When players were absent, he brought on guest players instead of giving the bench players experience. He was all about the w's.

In the meantime, we ended up paying thousands of dollars to get this "great experience." When I questioned her amount of playing time, Victor encouraged us to come to his private training for $30 hour. When we regularly did this, she played a bit more. When we didn't, she didn't. After looking into team finances, we realized how much he charges the team for every little cost associated with coaching. Meals on the road, his hotel, his travel expenses, his gas, etc. I know that coaches sometimes get these things comped, but it seemed like he was only in this for the money.

He was always very touchy-feely and there have always been a bunch of rumors about him around the girls. Now, when we play against him and I see him put his arm around the players, I am totally disgusted.

We are very bitter about our time at FCSC as my daughter wanted to quit the sport after a year with him. Fortunately she found an awesome team and is very happy. I hope other girls don't leave the game and realize that there are good experiences out there.

          Ex SC coach

I have heard similiar stories about Victor and his three teams and private trainings are his only source of income.
I went to a coaches meeting and Victor gave this big speech about how we all need to be on the same team and not bad mouth each other. We need to support each other. Next indoor game, Victor was there soliciting my players parents, telling them they could be even better if they had the right coach.

I find it comical that you can be around a group of people (in the couv) and just mention Victor or Joe frimpomg and someone in the room will have a great story about them.

I was with SC for 5 years and three teams, i would do any other vancouver club before Salmon Creek. It took me a while to figure it out and Frimpongs lies were the last straw.

But hey do whats best for your player-there are some good ethical coaches with SC.

Onyx was missing 4 players total (3 starters) and still managed to beat a team one year older than them (U14) by the score of 4-1. They're not the only team that can do it. I've seen other teams do it as well. No doubt it changes the tone of the game but at this level it shouldn't be a huge issue if the coach is developing all the players.

              1) He was fired/let go/contract not renew from MT. View for unethical actions with the HS girls players.

              2) He or Salmon Creek for that matter has not yet to coach a club team that has gotten players on to the next level PERIOD so telling you that he will get your kid a scholarship is monstrous.

              3) Private Training your own team players is a scam. If he made you do it at any age from U-11 on then you are just paying him extra money to do what he should have done in the first place.

              4) Coaches to win without development in mind. Ask him what happens when he loses his top 2 players to another team and the team becomes a WASH.

Onyx beat a garbage team that was an age up. Get real. They are a TOP team in the NW but do you really think they could beat a Washington Premier or X-fire (who've they beat previously....without 4 players?) get real..

Oh and when 40% of your team isn't from THUSC and people are driving from sherwood or Salem...yeah its a glorified ODP team...rightly so, no knock to them but don't say they are all Tulitan kids.

Good teams are not made up of the local neighborhood kids. Do you think Crossfire has only local kids playing for them? Pull your head out. Even some of the best players from vancouver travel to play for Crossfire or Washington premier. Now thats a drive.

10 out of the 17 have been with THUSC since U10/U11. I'd say that's pretty darn good. The rest were attracted to the team because they were already a good, winning team. It's a natural occurance for any sport and will always be that way.

Why are you talking about ONYX (a U-13/1998) team on a U-12/1999 post? Talk about dumbasses!!!!

Remember you Higher than God touting Onyx parents....That tournament is only for the teams that didn't make NWCL or Premier bracket last year! Crap wins, but Tom spent your money for another title!!!

Sure you can win a game here or there against an older age group, but try to do it week in and week out!

Wow calm down. My daughter plays U12 at THUSC and I can tell you that the Onyx parents know that the team is good but would never brag about winning the PCSC or even a State title. Being the best in Oregon means nothing and anyone who has played outside of Oregon knows that.

You seem to be a little bitter towards the team and it's time to just take a deep breathe and calm yourself. It's only kids soccer.

Oh and yes while it was a crap tournament teams that play premier were allowed to enter. I doubt any of them did but the only teams that couldn't enter were NWCL teams. I don't think you'll get any arguement from any Oregon team that the competition was not that good.

My daughter plays at ESUFC and I wish we would attract kids from outside the area. But in all honesty our team and our girls program just isn't strong enough to draw that attention to come out here. I say well done to any team that is. We need to have talent from all over Oregon if we want the strongest teams. I see nothing wrong with it. The team must have done well before the recruits or else no one new would of wanted to show up.

Let's get this back on track. Any predictions for this weekend? It's hard to predict with so many kids missing for basketball and other sports!! I don't see any huge upsets but I am curious to see the WSM-EMFC score. See if WSM can pull off another victory. Looks like Ziirconium gets a double header on Sunday and have to play WUSC and then EMFC. Could be a tough day for them.

I can't speak to the younger ages at ESUFC but your generalization is incorrect. ESUFC has made a concentrated effort to bolster their HS Girls program GU15-18. The DOC runs the program as the head coach of each team. Further each team has a head Co-coach and assistant. They have 3 practices per week. One tactical training lead by DOC and a position specific coach. The other two days are team specific. ESUFC HS teams have attracted new talent from other OR clubs and Vancouver.
