In the five years that we played on a now OPL team through OYSA we never once went to Medford. Why the sudden fixation with it? I agree that the Division 1 and Classic had to. The real competetive teams did not in almost all cases except where there was an excellent team in Medford. Never happened in our age group. To me the Seattle vs Medford argument isn't even relevant.

Lets just play the teams from WA! And what will they say...no problem, just drive up here and stay in a hotel every time you want to play, because why would we care about the teams in OR. Sound familiar?
The comment was made tounge in cheek. The irony is that you are correct... why call it OPL and not Portland Metro league. It simply has nothing to do with Oregon.

Since OYSA did not cover all of Oregon it should get a new name also. It should be Western Oregon Youth Soccer Association. OYSA had nothing to due with a large portion of Oregon.

            You may want to re-think

Registration for FWRL closed a month ago. And participation by the Bend teams certainly would have required more than "slightly less travel" compared to OPL.

Hopefully, several of the A teams from Oregon Rush will be playing in the Premier division of OPL this Fall. If so, I think travel to Bend once or twice will be worthwhile.

FWRL was actually much less travel than we anticipated. One weekend to Seattle (gotta do that no matter what league right?) One weekend to Arizona (great venue) and one weekend in Portland. It was worth it for the quality and variety.

Registration closed for Fall 2011. I don't believe OR teams do Fall FWRL due to OR HS. Will do Winter/Spring. Travel was not an issue. Better competition all around.

I didn't realize we were talking about Spring leagues. By the way, it appears there are a few yournger (U-13 to U-15) OR teams doing Fall FWRL, but I'm not sure they would be considered among the stronger teams from the state.
