It was the OPL that stepped away, and the rest of the clubs that followed that divided soccer in this state. Nobody forced anyone to leave.

You are right OPL stepped away for something better. They take their competitive soccer seriously. OYSA did not. OPL was not forced away they moved away and all of the clubs that followed suite voted with their dollar.

They went to something they viewed better. Call it OPL's fault fine; but OYSA is just as much at fault for not listening to its customers.

      ODP or ACADEMY?

[QUOTE=Unregistered;575387]I often get the feeling from this forum that some parent believe it would be best for Oregon soccer to put the best 16 players on one team (and that maybe we should have only one Oregon super club). That way, Oregon could compete with the "best." Right now, I think people believe we basically have two to four "competitive teams" in each age/gender group.

These "competitive teams" need to play out of state, because there's no real competition here in Oregon and they get tired of playing each other. The view follows that once you go below these top four teams, you're really not playing competitive soccer.

I think that is the purpose of ODP or academy, so that the best can play with each other

I don't care if the OPL DOC's have their panties in a wad, or if OYSA doesn't have a clue what they are doing. I want my Child's teams to be able to play all of the best teams in the state, Compete in a true Regional tournament and grow as much as possible from their experience with youth soccer.

OPL,OYSA, get over yourselves, step on the gas, and get this thing solved before fall season starts. If you can't do that, then lets pull the plug on both of them!
        Right on!!!!

          OK late to the game...

Do I understand this individual to be lauding that in "some cases" us club regionals was more competitive than state cup? ? ? I would hope a regional tournament would be more competitive than a state cup at every age group.
