Uh oh, looks like a preview of the expectations for Oregon teams at USYS Regionals.

And that would make you happy why? Are you a zeolot or simply pathological.

Who is happy? I read nothing of that in the previous post. That is actually sad. I root for all Oregon teams outside of the state. But, this is what was feared with the split.

I can guaranty you the author of that post is happy to see the foregoing results. Sorry, but that is the reality. You may not want to believe it but such is the state of certain individuals.

            Nothing to be Happy About

There's nothing in these results that should make anyone happy.

Or maybe they were just reporting the results for those of us that didn't think to go look at them? - Agreed this is NOT good for Oregon - split or not.

what bothers me the most is other states look at these results and think "Oregon......what an easy win" when they think of playing us or traveling to a tourney in our state.

Does anyone really care about Presidents cup results? It is for the second tier teams so it's really pretty meaningless if you ask me. Now if our results in Regionals look like that then I'd be concerned. Those games start next week right?

If the author was really happy about these and not just reporting scores, don't you think they would have posted the actual teams playing in their glee?

"second-tier" or not, one poster hit the issue on the head. If this and US Regionals are the same type of results, teams will NOT consider coming to Oregon for events. And, many OR teams will have a tougher road gaining acceptance to outside events if the perception is that Oregon soccer can't compete.

Nobody on this thread yet is posting the tired OPL/OYSA is better junk. What we are saying is these results are not good for Oregon. I don't know how, but we need to find a way to get the groups back together so that our winners that represent Oregon are truly the best (of both leagues).

                      Please don't extrapolate.

I don't believe that you can use President's Cup results for anything other than good fun and cheer. Using these results to extrapolate Oregon's results in USYSA Regionals is really not warranted. We already know that with lack of OPL teams Oregon will probably not do well in Regionals. That's a given. President's Cup is to Regionals as are the Special Olympics to the actual Olympics. Why even keep score?

Congratulations. With that analogy, you win the ahole of the day award. God forbid your child's team is ever selected to play in an event similar.

Yes, I believe the original poster had every intent of reveling in the scores. I have seen too much of the OPL/OYSA crap to believe otherwise. "The worse OYSA does in Presidents' Cup and OYSA Regionals, the better for OPL" goes the scenario. They can't compete; they suck; there are terrible reps for Oregon; why even bother showing up; blah, blah, blah. There are dozens of postings on this forum to support this. Is that a rationale thought? Hell no, but there obviously is a huge amount of irrationality on this forum already. I've talked to too many people associated with OPL teams who wish nothing but ill will toward those clubs that have elected to stay with OYSA. Is it the exception? I'd like to think so. It sure as heck doesn't help OR soccer - OYSA or OPL.

I for one wish all Oregon teams luck. Just because these YOUTH athletes happen to be affiliated with OYSA shouldn't make everyone so happy to jump in and kill another avenue of opportunity. We should support the growth of youth sports in our region and not let any affiliation of a bunch of adminstrative types (be them docs, coaches, employees... whatever) ultimately take away our pride in our youth. Come on folks stop the nonsense.

                              too bad

Too bad the adults involved had to screw things up for the deserving teams. Oregon boys have at least three teams that could compete for a regional championship.
