Stop bashing our coach when he has been nothing but good for our teams and the biggest form of support we have had in 6 years
If you truly believe that MJ is the sole reason your kids will make it into college great. But you'll have a hard time with some of the logistics (insurance, not being associated with a club) to getting into tournaments where coaches can come see you. You can't believe that a few coaches would accept 16+ players can you? It's true that this team has had issues since its infancy. Its a shame that you haven't had the same experience that Sodium and down has had. However, Tom did not "throw" the games to sabotage you. What sense does that make? The club's whole tag line is that they hope their "B" teams are just as good as their "A" teams. That may not be feasibly possible, but wouldn't the club look better to have two good teams in an age group that are competitive? You also might see that your draw got you into a brackett that automatically got you into Quarterfinals, which in the only match your supposed "golden coach" decided to abuse the referee and got a red card, which led to the whole cascade of events.
My daughter knows many of the girls, and she has lost a little bit of respect for how the parents and some of the players handled it, calling girls on the fence "losers" and such if they didn't come over. But now that the "great divide" has happened, and everyone believes in their chosen paths, I guess that is all that matters. In the end, its a lesson learned for everyone involved, and a great forum discussion for everyone that's not!

All that can be said is good luck to all for their future soccer aspirations. :)

Sorta reminds me of the whole OPL and OYSA thing. Anyone that doesn't come to the OPL is a loser and we are going to track any game played by an OYSA team and point out just how bad you are and what losers you are.

Is there really that much animosity among parents towards the outcome of youth activiites? Sad. Truly.

adding on to what was said, why would Tom throw a game? Don't you think he would want them matching up against ireland in the final? and with his coaching background and the sucess he has with teams like sodium and neon, why would he want to give up another state title? plus he was the former coach of these girls as well. That wouldn't have been said if the "miracle coach" was the one coaching that game and they lost.

          MJ in SoCal

MJ coached my daughter for 3 years in SoCal. In 3 years I had only seen him get thrown out of one game. Seems to me that maybe the Oregon Ref's might be a little oversensitive. Furthermore, MJ was the best coach my daughter has ever or will ever have in her life. It does not surprise me one bit that these 2 teams followed him. We have actually considered moving our whole family to Oregon just so he could continue coaching my daughter. Mj is not a perfect man, but my family has been blessed to have him in our lives. My daughters path in life has been forever changed because of his passion for the game. I will always be greatful.

First off I'm sure you're just a Sapphire parent pretending to be from California and secondly he was thrown out of games in Oregon, Washington, and California. Whose fault is it now? Did the Oregon refs follow him to WA and CA just to throw him out?

Why would a parent from SoCal read a "Oregon" forum ?

Being the parent of a recent addition to MJ's team that was not from THUSC and didnt know him previously, i van only speak to the quality of his coaching my kid. He's great and is really helping her game improve. Above all, she is having FUN which is how it should be. I'm very happy with our decision to join.

Because he is a dear family friend and the fact that his reputation is being tainted anywhere in this country is upsetting to my family and I. That is why someone from SoCal is on this forum. As far as him being red carded here in Ca a few months ago, I was there. The ref could not even speak English. He had no reasonable reason to throw him out. There were many coaches ask to leave that weekend by the same ref. Not to mention the fact that the game prior to that, one of his players ended up in the hospital due to a ref not controlling a game. As a parent I would rather have him thrown out of a game for trying to protect my daughter then have my daughter throw out her knee. THINK PEOPLE.

Oh, that perfectly explains the other 8. And I believe the PEOPLE did THINK, that's why he was FIRED. Every coach has friends and parents who have drank the koolaide. Doesn't mean all their bad behavior is justified.

Awesome. Racist, much? How about you look at the laws of the game and how they are applied, versus slandering a referee because he doesn't speak English as his first language. Really? He's not a good referee because English isn't his first language? You are a stellar human being. I'm sure that's why he gave out so many red cards, because he cannot speak English. If you really are from SoCal, then you'll realize that English is not a lot of people's first language in that region of our country. Try not to make excuses for a coach that are tinged with racism, then people might have a reason to listen to you.

YES THINK PEOPLE! How many teams from Oregon go to Southern California every year to play in soccer tournaments? Between nomads, two different surf cups, and a couple of other tournaments, I would guess that number to be in the 20-30 range, probably higher. How many coaches have been red carded this year in SoCal tournament? One? A person who has a history of being a wonderful coach but verbally abusive to referees? Yes, clearly it's a refereeing problem then. THINK PEOPLE.

I love the excuse that the referee doesn't control the game -- so screaming at him and using expletives are going to help? Good leadership. Just remember, it takes a classy person to get red carded AFTER a game is over, because it's clearly a matter of protecting your players then. THINK PEOPLE.

Do you really think that we are that stupid? Love the comment about moving to Oregon. Now, you really do need a medical exam. I bet you were one of his private training pupils?
You parents that follow this guy are the sad ones and you really need to take a close look at what you are doing for your child's upbringing. You are willing to let derogatory comments about girl issues, inappropriate comments about other things be brushed aside just because you think this guy will get you a college scholarship? A quote from Mr God himself to his team, after they put in a poor performance "..........what's the matter, are you lot on the rag?" Yeah, I would love this guy round my daughter. You parents that come on here and praise this guy, need a serious mental examination. Look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself, why am I jumping on the MJ wagon, when really, there are other coaches and teams out there that can work for my child. i know the answer though. You lot are as crazy as he is. Can't wait to hear the excuses about "the rag" comment. I guess Tampax will get blamed!!!!
