    Makes sense that they would.

The flipside is that a team would be demoted.

In any case, tell your coach to send a bottle of scotch to the OPL "bracket master". That can't hurt your case.

These teams all merge under the OSSA banner next year, so their teams will be NO MORE

You forgot CFC Rangers at U13 boys. They went 8-0 in division 1 last spring.

It was my understanding that any of these teams could request to move up to premier if they feel like their team is ready. There is no qualifying tournament with OPL so you can't play your way in like the old OYSA days. The number of teams in premier isn't a set number so it doesn't necessarily mean a team will be demoted.

We were in a premier bracket last year and the competition was pretty good. There were a few teams that did not belong there but this always happens in the youngest bracket.

I hope that some of the lower teams will be moved down and some D1 teams moved up, to keep the brackets "correct".

I totally agree! If OPL is going to talk about promotion/relegation it should be automatic. Top team (or two) up, bottom team (or two) down.

If it is not automatic, no team will ever request to be relegated, so you will just have endless growth in the top bracket.

Not true. My daughter played U11 last season. Her team moved up to Premier for Spring, and at least 1 team moved down to Div 1. There was also some movement from Div 2 to Div 1 and vice versa. Good coaches and/or DOCs recognize that teams losing lopsided matches don't gain anything playing up and out of division.

With that said, I hope OPL uses the scores/results from the summer tournaments, especially those local to the greater PDX area, to help with placing teams in the proper division for Fall League. OPL did not take the summer tournaments into consideration last summer, and some teams were obviously in the wrong divisions last fall...

For U13G, WUSC probably won't because of the way they got pushed around in state cup (they really don't have the depth to compete in the Premier group). Not sure if CFC will be in OPL. The other team that could potentially move up is the WSM B team, Red Magic. They were competitive this Spring and supposedly got better in tryouts. This group lost Pacific Ice so they could use another team or two in Premier. It would be nice to see OR Rush 97 added to the Premier group but that probably won't happen for a lot of reasons.

U13g (now U14) Eastside Valencia and Pacific Ice should move down and at least WUSC and WSM "B" team should move up

Eastside had ups and downs, not sure they should move as they gained some players and a coach. If they could just get away from the dirty players they may be an alright club..Pacific Ice has always been bad but managed to keep games close..
I would say that OSA/Red Magic closer to a move up than WUSC.

I heard FC Willamette Paragon U13 and Primetime U14 were considering asking to move to premier but don't know if they have decided yet.

When is the deadline to register? I would hope that most teams, at least those with new talent and those considering changing divisions, play a few tournaments before registering for Fall league...

Can you please explain why they won't move up. Reasons ?

                            For current U13girls.......

Willamette Paragon should NOT move up. True they dominated Division 1, but this is because too many teams were Premier that should not have been. This team did not even advance out of a weak bracket in State Cup.

There should be more teams from Premier that moved down to Division 1. This would make both divisions ultimately more competitive.

But, we know this would never happen. Too many DOC and coach egos would be bruised. Here is what should happen:

                            Premier would consist of:
Onyx (still the team to beat)
LO Lightning (improved coaching and picked up some players)
FC Navy (added 3 Onyx players)
Sherwood (don't know, heard they lost numbers but don't know the affect on strength?)
FCSC Nemesis (have they stayed intact?)
                            Eastside Timbers
                            Oregon Rush

The last spot is tough...but I will go with Gallium since they stayed intact and had a solid Spring and picked up 2 WSM starters. SSC Stealth is a bubble team, did they get any help or same team that struggled last year?

Without a doubt PCU, NEU, and WSM should be dropped to Div 1. None of these teams were competitive enough. PCU was winless in fall and spring. NEU was competitive in the Fall and then nosedived in the spring. WSM supporters (and Cony's ego) would fight this. But they were NOT competitive in fall, spring, or NWCL and lost multiple players.

Now we would have a more competitive Div 1 and Premier. But sadly, this will not happen.

Most DOCs don't weigh Spring results very heavily. Many of the athletes are off playing other sports (baseball/softball/lacrosse/track), which may explain the NEU nosedive.
