    why ???

I'm sorry but that is just wrong and if my child was in that age group I'd be writing a nice letter to Erik. We pay lots of money for training and if you have no coach then you receive no training.
WHY are you asking a parent of this team any of these questions ? Do you think that the parent has the answer ?

If you dont have a dog in the fight, why are you even responding ? If you did, then you might be asking the same questions. Is it just to fuel the fire ?

If your DD didnt make the cut, Im sorry, but trying to aggravate the issue will not make your daughter a better player, nor get her a place on the team.

Just another crap talker with sour grape taste in their mouth.

Now, on the other hand. Our DD has had a great experience so far in ODP. She has gained such self confidence on the ball and against better players. Regardless of this ONE situation we [our family] is very pleased with the program this year.

It's not what you think it is. It stands for dear daughter. BB stands for best boy. Just soccer forum vernacular.

          Not happy

Second year in ODP for my daughter and total disappointment, and completely because of the lack of coaching. Training is okay, but the coaching is horrible.

Get a license, sign up and make a difference. Instead you sit here and complain. Speak with your checkbook and walk.

Last time I checked this is a soccer blog where people vent out their frustrations, celebrate triumphs, argue with each other among other things because they just want to talk about soccer and all the drama that comes along with it. So I say just sit back, relax, enjoy or get upset, whatever, or don't come to this site at all.

Did the B team get any of that while they were off on their own? No. They had to try to figure it out themselves. Can you really call that good coaching or a coach doing the best he can? Why would it have been so hard to spend half his time with each team?

As far as the scrimmage goes he apologized to the B team players for not being able to spend any time with them and for forgetting to sub them in. He easily could of spent time with them by coaching them for 1 game but chose to ignore them for both. I give that team great credit for being able to hold off the '97 mix team (which contained both Regional players for '97) and only lose 2-1 without ANY coaching.

He had his players picked from the beginning and could of cared less about the rest. Sadly, his coaching is not as great as he seems to think as Rochelle out coached him and was able to draw 1-1 at the Friendship cup.
My daughter is on the A team but I completely agree with your comments. She felt really bad for the B team players since the coach didn't even bother to coach them at all during the scrimmages. I don't know why he didn't coach the A team for one game and the B team for the other game. I think it looks very poorly on him.

I am also very disappointed in the coaching this year. Last year was much better and my daughter learned a lot more. He had the A team in a 3-5-2 but he never actually took the time to explain to the girls how to run it. The whole thing was a mess.

We are speaking with our check book that's why we are part of ODP. Now we want what we signed Up for and got in previous years. Attention to detail, all players trained on both ends of the field. Coaching during games, practices and taught that you are ODP two groups but one team. The A team stays and watches the B team and the B team team stays and cheers on the A team. The kids giving 110% and the coach doing the same. Moving players talking to them on the field. Pulling a players that is not performing out of the game tell them what you want and sending them back in with confidence. Take kids out of the game to catch there breath you didn't even notice the center mid just standing because she was so tired!! This is very basic stuff the kids get dailey at club level!! We expect the best at ODP and the head coach should be at this level.

Thank you, and to the to the previous poster, I don't plan on getting a license, that is why I pay for programs like this, and my daughter may or may not try out again next year. We did vote with our checkbook, last year was a great experience, and that is why she tried out again. Parts of this year have been great too. I just simply made one sentence comment, I am disappointed in the coaching this year for this age group. If you are a big fan, good for you!

Great post! I especially like the part about pulling the kids out and letting them know what they need to work on. That never happened. He was subbing at half time and that was it. He didn't really seem to try different combinations or move players around to find the best fit.

I noticed that poor center mid as well. She was so tired but apparently that didn't matter. He had planned out his subsitutions prior to the game and she was going to stay no matter what!!!

I totally agree. Last year my daughter learned so much more and she was on the B-team for most of the time until the Eugene games. Durano and Hearns did so much more coaching, and my daughter learned new things, apart from her club practices. This year was and is so disappointing.
Also notice that both Durano and Hearns now coach the top 2 teams of this age group. Great coaches, good players tend to gravitate towards them.

Actually, the schedule says rosters announced on June 2 for older age groups and on June 6 for younger ones. The younger age groups still have practice sessions next weekend.

Just so I get this straight, the rosters are announced and the actual 18 never play together? Do they play together in Idaho or are they mixed in with the pool?
Also, what states are in the region?

Thanks, this is all new to me!
