    98 odp

    Rochelle-1
    Dave-0

Wow who is this guy coaching the 98 A team? He was totally out coached this is crazy. Does he know you can sub players during the game not just at the half? With all the negative around ODP this year I thought well at least they will get good coaching!! No not even that is on par with what ODP should be.

The coaches now have one objective: to get your daughter to Regionals. I would hate my daughter to get subbed out after a couple errors when Regionals is on the line. The game today didn't mean anything. The only thing they are looking at is who are the 18 going to Idaho.

So that means no coaching just stand on the sidelines and say nothing of importance to the kids playing. Sorry I disagree we are paying for coaching and developing the kids. He is either bad at evaluating talent or bad at coaching because our team got outplayed by the B team!!

There's some decent players on the B team. I think some of them were good enough to make the ODP state pool.

Welcome to ODP where size is huge!! At regional camp, year after year, tall players are chosen. Maybe now with Barca winning with many shorter the USA will realize that skill is better than size!!

I have to say I was disappointed after watching the game yesterday. It was not pretty. I expected a good game of soccer from these top players. Can't really pinpoint what was wrong but it sure looked chaotic to me. No one really stood out, I thought.

It's not just odp that puts a premium on size...just take a look at any of the D1 girls rosters.

If you can get the speed, quickness, and agility, technicality aaaaaannndddd Size - there's your golden package.

You don't need size, but it offers a lot to the game if you are able to use it.

If you have 100 kids in an academy and you work with them every day for months, years, etc..., you can pick the best package (size, speed, skills, mental, etc...)

If you get one or two weekends to make your pick.... you are going to go for size and speed. It is tough to evaluate the other stuff in a short period of time.

Obviously if a kid dominates they will standout. Most kids (especially girls) do not have confidence to "dominate" in a tryout and so they get grouped in with the other kids in which case I think size and speed wins.

Wow tell that to the rest of the world. Coaches in other countries look for technical and tactical awareness first, size last. Guess they have it all wrong if size wins out.
