    Just the facts ...

I agree with you that Oregon has not faired all that badly overall. Better than many western states.

Oregon has 3.8 million in population, California just under 37 million, according to the US Census Bureau. I betting they know the "facts".

How about your statement that FC PDX girls are doing well? Let's look at one item that infers just how well they are doing. State Cup through OYSA years 2008,2009,and 2010 for U12-U18 and this year through OPL have resulting in the following winners:

THUSC 10, LOSC 5 (included OSSA this year), and just 2 for FC PDX, Oregon Rush (did not do OPL this year), Southside and Westside each.

State Cup is not the only measure, but it's a pretty good one over a four year period. Results do mean something. FC PDX girls program not getting it done like they used to in the good old days.
In that same window didn't CFC win 6 titles? Actually 9 if you count this year.

I may have not made it clear enough, the 4 years related to girls only; OYSA for 2008-2010, and OPL for 2011.

Ok, one or two teams. The question is, are we consistently competitive throughout the years and in every age group and gender? Not so much. The argument that our population base is less than So Cal's, therefore we're always at a disadvantage, is not true. Looking at global soccer, say for example, the Dutch players. I think their population is relatively smaller than California, yet they produce quality players and are able to compete in the world stage. I can think of many countries whose population is much smaller than the US but are powerhouses when it comes to soccer. The point is, let's not make population base an issue to our lack of success. Our current system simply does not foster higher level of competition...My 2 cents...

Whatever. Largest Women's professional league in the world right here in the US. Soccer is growing in popularity in the US and it is growing in terms of talent. Why do people like you need to constantly try to put down those who are playing at a high level? Oregon can't compete my a*%. They have and they do. Sorry that it doesn't make for the same sad song.

Aren't there like 6 teams in the WPS? That is not a great accomplishment where there were 8 last season. The rest of the world on the womens side is catching up. Our theory or size and strength is not going to keep working. Oregon, as a whole, is unable to compete with California at the moment. We shouldn't settle for a team or two who can pull off a victory. If you're satisfied with where Oregon stands then so be it. I hope we can aspire to a much higher level.

LOL. My dear, you don't have to throw tantrums. The other blogger was simply stating the obvious. Sorry that you at a loss for words that profanity easily comes to mind. Have some class.

We shouldn't settle for people like you who can't cut it and want to blame the system... obviously it couldn't be you.

How about a constructive or objective rebuttal and less on personal attack?

I have to admit I too get tired of the conspiracy theory and the flawed system theory. Even so, I am proud of what Oregon teams are doing and how well some of our youth compete in the region and nationally. We definately know how to produce some stellar athletes!!!
