Maybe that is not the case at Sherwood since they are not known to develop players but to say teams that don't win at U11 will lose people is just silly. I would hope that LO retained most of their players as that club is known for having good teams. I can't imagine if FC or THUSC had a bad team that the kids would just jump ship. THUSC didn't have the best U11 spring season but from what I read on here retained all there players.

Your statement is very true but should not be applied to U11 kids.
Why do you think FC Portland U12G (formerly U11G) had a good turn out ? They have the best record for the clubs in the area. The clubs with better records or similar records are either in Eugene, Salem, or Vancouver. It is sad but true, competivie players like to win and most parents will take there kids to a club that wins.

Do you think it is by accident that FC ended with more new players at tryouts then the other clubs ? I didn't see a whole lot of advertising done by FC as I saw flyers from other clubs such as Westside and THUSC promoting tryouts.

There are a lot of parents who think their kids are the next Mia Ham and that somehow they think that at this age there are college recruiters watching the players every move so they move around (clubs) and jockey for position for their kids. Now, really?
That's funny. My daughter's HS soccer experience is far more stressful and full of parent-driven drama than her club team. It's still fun to play HS and a nice break from club but kind of a waste of time since the training is laughable and so many players are lacking skills and fitness. Hopefully your daughter's HS experience will be better!

Then why did SSC get more new girls trying out from Aloha and Sherwood than THUSC and Westside?

The previous posts makes a very good point. Pick a club that is consitent with the life style of the kids. Parents are savy enough to know this and can learn alot about a club outside of the record.

Thinking parents and kids choose clubs based on their record gives very little credit to parents and their kids and simply doesn't happen that way.

Many new kids at FC could very likely end up on the B team which did not have a good record . . . the ones I heard went there were impressed with their practices and reputation. Others choose SSC so they could play two sports. Records had little to do with it.

Because several Aloha United coaches went over to SSC when Aloha United had the fallout. For the Sherwood players, Tigard (SSC) is a closer drive then the other clubs.

There are plenty of U11 players at Westside, THUSC, and FC Portland that play more then one sport.

With regards to "reputation" .... this has mostly to do with a clubs win-loss record.

What is FC Portland's "reputation" ? Is it that they are good a developing young players ? Take a look at FC Portland's older teams and see how many kids actually played at FC Portland at U11, U12, and U13.
