As long as the coach is acting in that manner the kids are going to find it acceptable as well, especially when their parents are condoning it.

Messing up over and over again and only apologizing and saying you were wrong because you got caught is not learning a lesson. Hopefully getting fired and suspended will teach him that he needs to act like an adult. Only time will tell.

At the end of the day. MJ is to blame for his antics. 8 or 9 referees from Washington, Oregon and California can't be all inept. The sad part is perhaps his behavior could have curbed if Tom acted earlier. If a DOC has the pulse of his club, he knows a coach is accumulating red cards and should have stepped in. But when your club activities is controlled by your DOC (i.e. he is the executive director, DOC and board member) no wonder it took so long to take action

Wow way to pass blame. MJ and MJ alone is to blame. He is an adult and knows right from wrong.

I am pretty sure that if you look at the records Mercury won state the year before MJ so don't you dare say that they can't play or would not have won it. MJ is a great coach and maybe if your child's team hadn't lost to his then you wouldn't care as much. LEAVE THE MAN ALONE !!!

Wow. Must have hit a nerve. MJ made his bed and now he gets to sleep in it.

You screw up in a very public role (like paid coach working with kids), you have to be humble and work toward cleaning up your act.

MJ is not humble nor did anything to clean up his act.

"Send me to rehab". "You should have talked to me earlier". "It is not my fault, the Referees were wrong". "I never cussed at the referees until after they throw me out".

There is no break. He has to earn the trust of the soccer community, not just the few 'crazy' parents.

Do you represent the soccer community? Respect goes two ways.

Very well said. He was sorry after the fact. I can't believe parents are willing to pay someone to disrespect the refs and players on the opposing team. What a great role model for your child! I keep hearing all these excuses on why he got the red cards but I have yet to hear that he was wrong. The excuse of "he was trying to protect his players" doesn't work. If he was that concerned he could of simply taken his team off the field. It would of shown a lot of maturity and taught the kids a great lesson. But that would be too simple. Yelling and screaming is much more productive. Strange that I'm trying to teach my 2 year old the same thing.

You support for this guy is very funny. We really don't hate him, but what he did this to himself and your support for him is a laugh a minute. You need the life.

Actually you need to learn reading comprehension as well as sentence structure. Nowhere in the post was any support given to MJ. Who's the idiot?
