    Tryouts Start Today

Good luck to all the kids.

From a parent who is happy with their both of my kid's team and enjoys spending time with the other parents, I hope most teams stay the same for next year.

Especially in my daughter's case, I really would pass on my daughter's team getting better just to keep the same 16 girls together. I'm pretty sure other parents and players feel the same way. But I realize it is probably unlikely and understand the club's perspective.

My daughter is not a top player so I will be nervous for her in the next two days (been told nothing to be nervous about). Pretty sure son is embedded as starter on his team and even on that team I would love to see the entire group together next year.

I will be one of those nervous parents watching during tryouts . . . this board proves we take this stuff much more seriously than the kids. I'll try not to let kids know I'm nervous for them and if there is anything positive I always look forward to meeting new parents and kids when a team goes through changes.

I think many times it's more nerve racking for us parents. No one wants to see disappointment on their childs face and I think that protective instinct takes over!

I agree. Good luck to all the kids trying out. Hopefully, they will all perform at their best so the correct decisions can be made.

As a parent of a kid that is looking for a new team, I am also nervous. Two clubs, one night a piece and both nights she needs to be on. Although, I know she is a little nervous, she does not seem as bad as me. She is pretty confident that she will do her best and end up in a good spot. So, I guess I should relax and let her do her thing.

What age group will your daughter be trying out for?

Oregon follows a really dumb process for tryouts. Two nights of tryouts, blind acceptance, - stupid.

It is difficult. That is why if you were thinking of changing clubs it's always a good idea to attend some practices before hand. It gives the coaches a chance to see your child and it gives your child a chance to get to know the kids and coaches.

Tryouts in the rain . . . just adds to the uncertainess of it all, doesn't it? :)

Agreed there should be a better process. The club my daughters play for had pre-tryouts one day a week for three weeks, which brought out some good talent that the coaching staff got to see prior to tryouts.

The pre-tryouts definitely help. But, that can be difficult when your DD's team is playing in state cup and possibly against the team she may want to move to. There is only a small window to get those pre-tryouts in.

Any news on the try-outs? I heard FC picked up 3-4 from Onyx and a couple of the Sherwood girls went to other clubs. Any news on LO?

Where did the Sherwood girls go? Did Westside stay intact? And what about the AU team, where did they end up?

Would that be last year's U-11s?

No, last year's U-12s. Sorry for the confusion. I heard a few of the U-11s were going elsewhere, I know I saw a couple of them at FC tryouts yesterday.
