Agreed. I have heard horrible comments from the SSC and ESUFC parents. Way worse then anything I've heard from THUSC.

At a U12G game a SSC girl punched a THUSC girl in the jaw and was saying terrible things to her. Talk about bad sportsmanship.

Seriously, parents and players for all clubs act this way. It isn't limited to one club.

Back to topic: I heard the coach in question recieved many of these red cards at tournaments oustide of season and board didn't know about it until brought to their attention. Respect to the club for suspending a coach during State Cup. NOt sure of too many other clubs that would do it.

This reminded me of a tournament we played in down in Cali. We played a team from Minnesota. None of the teams/parents in Oregon could hold a candle to this team. Those parents would yell directly AT our coach and players. Their players were the dirtiest I have ever seen. In their play and from their mouths. It was literally unbelievable.

              How long is suspension

How long is suspension? Is OPL suspending the coach? I would suspend him for at least a year. 9 red card is unheard of and would requires some anger management for this coach. Probably a little ego tone down would help.

                OPL Rules

From the OPL Rules page 4-5
                => http://www.oregonpremierleague.com/d...ue%20Rules.pdf

                c. Discipline
                i. Yellow Cards – An individual player or coach who accumulates five (5) yellow cards throughout the course of the league play will be required to sit out the first match after his or her fifth yellow card.
ii. Red Cards – An individual who accumulates three (3) automatic ejections (does not include a player who is cautioned twice in the same match) throughout the course of league play will be automatically suspended for the remainder of league play. The player will be eligible for post-season play.
                - The following game suspensions will apply for automatic red cards:
                a. 2nd Caution – 1 game b. Foul Language – 1 game c. Serious Foul Play – 1 game d. Violent Conduct – 2 games e. Referee Abuse – 3 games f. Referee Assault – 3 months or as deemed necessary by
the Oregon Premier Council. - Any game where a red card is given is automatically reviewed
by the league disciplinary committee. The league office, along with the appropriate representatives from the OPL’s designated Referee Assignor and Liaison (Unified Soccer Solutions), will review the referee’s match report, speak with the appropriate parties, and the nature of the incident can be determined and the league disciplinary committee can impose further suspension on the participant and/or fines on the Club.
iii. The Oregon Premier League will not tolerate any verbal or physical abuse toward match officials, whatsoever. Any incident that is reviewable by the league disciplinary committee with regard to misconduct toward a referee on the part of a player, coach or parent is subject to suspension and/or fines imposed on the club of the participants. The OPL and USS will review each and every instance on and individual basis to assess each of these instances for potential disciplinary procedures.
iv. Furthermore, any club who receives more than eight (8) red cards throughout the course of League Play (Fall and Winter League combined) are subject to discipline and sanctions including, but not limited to, fines and suspensions.

Luckily for THUSC most of his red cards did not come from league play but out of state tournaments. I hope he is disciplined approapriately as the behaviour needs to stop.

The course that THUSC takes will let you know the integrity of the Club. What message are they TRULY sending out to the kids. It should not matter if this is a winning coach or not. What should matter is the message that he is sending to the his players - this is the most impressionable times of their lives. To ignore a punishment in a way that that is recognizable to the players is naive and will only be reaffirming that winning is more important than ethics or integrity.

I hope for the kids sake, that an example be made and message will be shared with this situation.

                      Heard about an appeal

I heard that THUSC was appealing MJ being suspended by OPL because the other Red Card were out of state tournament.

I am not sure that is the right thing to do. Not hating anyone, but why defend this volume of red cards.

No kidding, how is that even possible to get that many red cards? Most coaches have to work hard to get one red card. What a joke.

AMEN! Teach the kids responsibility for your own actions! Stop whining about the just consequences you get for your mistakes, learn from them, and get on with life.

It would be nice but his ego won't let him. He is appealing to the OPL. He has a hearing later this week.
