Recently I have seen information about schedules from FWRL coming out. This looks like a real competitive league. Development Academies from LA and Arizona, teams from all over Region IV. This looks far more competitive than NWCL. Anyone out there participating, or familiar with this league?

Oregon Rush is participating at least down to thier U15 level. I am not familiar but it looks like a great league and we are excited to participate this year. I was curious about the format and how much travel was involved. It isn't really that bad. We have two weekends of away travel, one of which is in Seattle and a weekend in Portland. It isn't all the same teams that we see all the time. In our age group there is only the Eastside team out of Seattle that we were familiar with. It looks like each weekend you play 3 games. I think it will be a very competetive league!!

From my understanding OPL teams have been asked not to participate as the league is aligned with the same group as OYSA (name escapes me sorry). That is why you don't see more of the older age groups participating because I know many wanted to.

OYSA made it possible this year for teams individually to sign up directly with OYSA to compete in this league. This was important in the cases where an entire club pulled from OYSA leagues, but the team found insufficient competition in the league(s) their club played the balance of their teams in or they wanted an additional challenge.

Need Club Approval to Register
"Unregistered" here
The Club has to approve any team to take part.
We are only talking about a 'couple' of teams that could take part and be successful.
Teams have other tournaments events to get the same level of competition for the same cost or less.
Also, don't look for a FWRL weekend in Portland again this year. Unless OYSA can find a location that is not control by OPL, all Oregon teams will travel out of state for all events.

To: "Unregistered"
There have been several instances over the last few years where the "TEAM" controls its own destiny and in some cases moves to another club when they dont get their way. I dont remember ever signing anything for our player to "Only Play Where The Club Says We Have to Play"
I doubt if a whole team decided it wanted to play in the FWRL under a direct relationship with OYSA (even if from a founding OPL member club), that club would just say "good bye" to all the funds the team represents to them. If they did, there are 7 other founding OPL clubs out there that would welcome them with open arms (and check book). Remember, we are talking about State Champ's last year to even play in this league.
As far as fields go, OYSA has plenty of fields at it's disposal that the OPL does not "control". In fact last I checked, the OPL doesnt "OWN" any fields.
They [OYSA] too are running a winter/spring league where they have already reserved field time and it would mean just adjusting locations for some of those games to accommodate a weekend of play for this league. I believe I read in some communication from OYSA in the past 45 days that they would in fact be hosting one of the weekends here in Portland, unless those plans have changed.
Yours Truly,

Thprd
THPRD does not have to give their fields to outside groups. OYSA had worked thought the Clubs in THPRD land to get fields. Those Clubs are OPL now. They don't have to work with OYSA. How is all the outside teams and players a THPRD taxpayer issue?
So, where in PDX Metro are the FWRL games going to be held?
