I certainly don't but it's the only explaination I can come up with for their selections. Many of the girls picked have good size over the girls that weren't picked which have a lot more skills.

Oh definitely not. I think you match skill with skill. You need players that not only have the skills but have the tactical knowledge as well. The players not selected certainly live up to that along with some that were selected. '98 could of been a pretty good team.

I am not sure what the evaluators were thinking. I count 6-8 girls with skills, fitness and speed. If the girls are big, athletic, and fit they might be able to compete, but in this case that did not happen. I cannot say it was ALL based on club biased (though it was bad) because the out of WSM picks are really puzzling. It is like they just stopped looking or never watched at all.

It's not just one player in question. There as several players who are questionable in skills and speed. There are players who didn't even get accepted to a regular premier club and then there is the matter of bench players and average players. Now when we say ODP player, one should think, Oh yeah, she's good. I've seen her play. She deserves it. If the selection was proper, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Then why is the focus of these discussions regarding the coaches daughter that tried out ? Why isnt everyone labeling or specifically mentioning any other players name or specifics about them so we know exactly who "shouldnt have been selected" ?

I realize it's easy to point your finger from the sideline after your darling was overlooked and not selected. Especially if you can conjure up some notion of impropriety along with it to make your point juicy and controversial.

Nobody has determined if the coach/evaluator even suggested his player for inclusion, nor that he didnt rate all the other players higher then his own if he did. You want to assume the worst cause yours or another player you think is better should have. Get some facts, not just "homegrown" statistics.

Since your all such experts in evaluation of this group, whey is it none of you have a coaching license and are on the ODP staff so that you can have some perfect positive influence in the process ?

Final Note: This is only the Portland pool, not the final group. So before you start labeling any player as "she's good, she's on ODP", why not wait to see who actually is finally selected and is training for the tourneys. It is common during the first couple of training sessions, they [ODP Training staff] ask other players that weren't selected or couldn't make the tryouts to come and be looked at (again).

What really? 4 from Sherwood U12 made yet they cut the Onyx girls? And I heard there are 3 from U12 WSM that made it over the Onyx, Rage, and Ice girls. CRAZY!! One from Iridium made it that I know of.
