Just noticed the THUSC Ireland (0) OSSA Blue (3) score from yesterday. Anyone see that game?

OSSA hung on for dear life for the first half. Wave after wave of attacks, THUSC unlucky to not be leading at intermission. 0-0 at half.

OSSA scored early in the second half also against the run of play. THUSC hits the post and has goal keeper scrambling on numerous occasions.

OSSA started to string some passes together with a little confidence in the second half and are rewarded when a ball played across the THUSC goal mouth results in an OSSA player being brought down (but no whistle)- everyone seemed to freeze expecting a PK and an OSSA player at the far post took several touches and put it home. THUSC hits the post again and it was a tough no-call on a ball alleged to be handled by the OSSA goalkeeper outside the box later on.

OSSA's 3rd goal was wonderful- a cross from outside the box is headed home with no chance of a save.

THUSC parents looked stunned at the final result. OSSA parents looked stunned at the final result. OSSA goalkeeper was player of the match.

Congrats to OSSA with their win over the Emeralds.

The question now is will the Emeralds bounce back and take it to Possession?

My prediction is that Possession is in for whooping.

                    Ireland 4-0

Ireland bounced back today 4-0 over Possession. 3-0 at halftime and looked to be on task.

                      Ireland-OSSA game last weekend

I saw only the middle half of last weekend's Ireland-OSSA game. Here's my observations: Ireland's midline controlled the field and dominated possession just by consistently being first to the ball. Due to that, there was some lopsided play. OSSA's defenders however did not seem to be hanging on for dear life, as another poster perceived. OSSA's back line shut down much of Ireland's offensive play. OSSA's defenders successfully managed Ireland's speed with some surprising speed of their own and really effective team work. In the time I watched, I did not see Ireland drilling the OSSA goalie with shot after shot. There was alot of defensive protection shutting down Irelands scoring efforts. Having said that, the OSSA goalie made 2-3 sensational saves and so was probably player of the game. Offensively, OSSA did not get as many opportunities as Ireland (OSSA's forwards need their midline to possess the ball!!!!), but when they did get it, they showed speed of their own and obviously effective team work for scoring. The scores I saw were the result of very strong play, not a scramble in the box. In all, Ireland showed really impressive skills. But I thought OSSA matched them with calm and confident play. Really fun game to watch! I wish I could have seen the end.

Sometimes a loss is a good thing. It seemed to have sparked Ireland. A surprising upset early on can definitley work to your advantage. It's a good eye opener. I expect most of the OSSA teams to be very strong competitors this season though.

Is it true one of FCW's best players just joined Ireland? If so, sucks for FCW. She's good.

That would be the 2nd Possession player to go to Ireland in past year. Tough.

The FCW player must be one of their ODP players. The Emeralds/THUSC only collect ODP players. Too bad the Emeralds can't take their THUSC ODP team to the FWR's this year. They will only be able to track Oregon Rush's scores while the Rush play in the FWR.

Guess the move to US Club was too soon for the Emeralds.
