When I tell people we play year round they are amazed, usually only a week off here and there.
You could really market a great winter indoor league, but no-one has the knowledge to get it right. Sad really!!!

Understanding the indoor/futsal problem with youth teams
First the Indoor centers only stay afloat due to Year Round Adult play. If Adults didn't pay the bills all year round, kiddies wouldn't have any options for indoor/futsal.
In 2010 the OPL's horrific delay in scheduling for the inconsequential and meaningless 'directors cup' makes a scheduling nightmare for the facilities..Hopefully in the future the OPL moves the 'directors' cup to the spring and run it at the same time as the club state title.
It's pretty clear looking at the listing of youth teams that the Facilities in Tualatin and the warehouse housing futsal at the east end of the Ross Island Bridge have about 90% of the OPL/OYSA clubs and teams. So they must have their marketing down as they have 250 plus teams signed up. So much for that theory(better marketing needed). Being full is the aim of a business..then again I studied business in college not the youth soccer parent mindset.
The lion share of the club girls teams descend to Tualatin and many of the boys teams descend to Portland Futsal....Why is that? Location, Location, Location...The wrinkle in the distribution of teams is almost always tied to the club coach or club DOC home dwelling.
the youth competition is truly a luck of the draw...best solution would be local coaches informing each other they are playing at x facility and guess what the others would follow. SImple solution...Then again the cost associated with playing indoor soccer has to do with the fact it's housed indoors outside of the elements...why do people play indoor soccer/futsal? recreational fun that is convienent (close to home)and most importantly not OUTSIDE...it's the best value of all soccer played...you are playing on indoor fields that you don't provide for through tax dollars or club fees...
Indoor/Futsal Soccer for youth is a one or two session happening for teams. If someone could find a westside location that they can lease for 3 to 4 months and not have to worry about paying the bills year round. they may be able to offer the competitive nirvana you dream of..until then the facilites are booked to capacity in the winter months pushing adult teams to wee hours in the night so billy and suzy can get games at time the parents desire...
Each time you go and play Indoor or Futsal look at the schedules on the wall and be thankful your game isn't starting at 1130pm at night...if you want competition convice other competitive youth your age and gendes teams to drive to your neighborhood facility and play there..facilities are first come first serve-- remember to sign up early as the popular ones fill up quickly.
Until then I will enjoy not sitting in 30 to 40 degree weather with a downpour outdoors watching the wind driven action....having the perspective of where I could be indoors or outdoors from Late November to Early March....choice is easy.

can you do both?

Now I am assuming that Nemesis and Pacific Fire will not be able to participate in the OPL State Cup correct?
