Now I have no kids on any team in U12G but just wanted to respond to your comment about connecting on shots. If your team is not connecting on many shots then I would assume that means there wasn't much of a threat on goal. And if Nemesis had a lot more shots then it does sound as if the score could of been worse.

They played Nemesis very hard too the score was 4-2(last time 4-1)but this game was closer then the score was ....Still looks like it will be a Aloha/Nemesis final with in my opinion Nemesis winning but it was a good weekend of growth for Gallium.
Didn't they finish 4th out of 5 teams only ahead of the silver team in the bracket?

All the games aren't over but that is probably where it will end up, didn't say that they ended up 1st or 2nd was talking about how improved the outcome of the games were compared to the OPL fall. Look at the scores that is a huge improvement.

True but what I was saying was that I was surprised by how weak their goalies are they drop kick right in front of the goal, I guess you have to give it up to their defenders for working so hard and kicking it up field quick. One of the problems with the team is getting alot of shots on goal but they were much improved this weekend that's all I was trying to say.

            Boys U12

Good to see a Silver team make the Gold final at boys U12. This what this tournament is all about in my mind. Allowing the Silver teams who have improved to mix it up with the lower end Gold teams. Good gauge for developmental progress.

I agree. I would think that any top Silver team could compete with the bottom Gold teams. This tourmanent gives them a good chance to do so. I believe even more Gold teams will enter next year as only 4 teams per bracket will not be eligible. (instead of the 6 this year)

In the U14G bracket there was a divison 2 team in Gold and though they lost their scores were all very close.

Nemesis only beat NEU 3-2 and WUSC 2-0. Not sure if they're missing players or not. I did think the Gallium-Nemesis score reflected the game. Nemesis had a lot more opportunities.
Aloha and WUSC both lost players Saturday night WUSC player broken nose and AU player concussion.

Agreed that this is a good way to look at development over a period of time. From reading other threads recently i am led to believe that this Indium team was beaten handily by Aloha at U11. Now maybe Aloha had a bad day but it could also indicate improvement in the other team. The 1-1 with WUSC is also a good sign.

What many parents fail to understand is that development of kids in sport can and does take a long time. Coaches need time to get the best out of their players and teams.

Aloha tied Indium during the spring season. They did beat Indium in the fall but I believe that was just a fluke. It's great to see Indium doing well still and I hope they continue to improve. THUSC needs this on the boys side.

I did hear that Aloha lost quite a few players because the players left to go to stronger clubs for the U12 season.

From the outside i have to say that it is good see that THUSC have put some emphasis on the boys side in terms of coaching, with the Boys DOC having had this team since U11 tryouts. Clearly they do not have a strong program over there but this shows that with a coach who knows how to develop a team over a period of time that good improvement can be made.

Too many "good" coaches will only work with the best teams at clubs and the Silver level teams are left with poorer coaching. This is not going to change anytime soon but that is why it is good to see teams truly get developed.

I'd like to see a Gallium vs Indium game. Should be a good one. Not sure who would pull off the victory there.

Actually, Aloha dominated the match. Nemesis was lucky they weren't beat even worse. It had nothing to do with Nemesis "struggling".

Nemesis struggled the entire tournament. Had some girls missing.

Congrats to Aloha for a great game. I don't want to take anything away from them.
