Regardless of everyone fussing over the details, this is a sad situation that needs immediate resolution in my opinion. We put our kids in the hands "strangers" everyday and when something like this happens it forces us all to reevaluate areas we may have taken for granted. We, as parents, need to keep our eyes open and question everything. Who, What , When, Where, Why & How. I know this might not be the most popular way to get answers from your kids (at least at our house) or otherwise but if you explain that the reason for the questions are there own safety, it might help prevent a situation like this from happening again.

And like you said, regardless of details, it is a sad situation and a lot of people are hurting. To post it on here is just unnecessary when every media outlet is running it.

So true. Even though I wouldn't be too upset to see this thread disappear, do you feel that it may reach some folks that might not have known about this situation through traditional channels? I mean, to be honest, I didn't know anything about this until I logged on and read this thread. Are the news stations airing anything?

I don't see an attack at all, or a loaded question, just a question. The original poster said "I heard this..." "is it true"? Why is this the wrong place. Didn't name names, clubs, etc. If the original poster attacked anyone, I missed it. And it is in the news, so why can't we talk about it here?

I don't think the tone is we can't talk about it, as earlier posters mentioned this may be the only way people learn about the situation.

What was objected to is that originally this forum was titled with the name of the club involved, the moderator has done an excellent job going through the posts and removing these club references without changing the posts.

As parents we should be concerned, aware, vigilant to news like this, but the news is the accusation and the individual, not the club with which they were affiliated.

I see nothing wrong with posting the club name. I would appreciate it if someone told me a coach within our club had done things like that. You can't blame the club for a persons poor judgement when they knew nothing about it.

Did you see the original post? Why don't you throw the school under the bus too? I suspect the club and school notified potentially impacted families and it will move from there. In other words, if you were in the club, you'd know. Beyond that, it's just scandal mongering which was either the intent of the original post or the poster was simply reckless.

Nope I did not see the original post and I never said anything regarding the original post directly. What I said is that I see nothing wrong with naming the club and I still don't. My child does not play for the club but I do not think it looks poorly for the club as long as they handled the situation as soon as they knew about it (which I assume they did). It's a great club and I have lost no respect for them.

My hope is this was an isolated case with Loni. My child was coached by him several years ago and he was a great coach. Nothing but appropriate with the players.

That being said, we have not been contacted by the club regarding this issue.

Just so you know - the minute this particular club found out what happened, they notified everyone immediately. They handled the situation very well.

Is your child still affiliated with the club? Because my child is a club member and we were notified the minute they found out. They handled it very well.
