The names of the coaches/trainers have been posted. So if somebody is interested in using them then they can go and contact them and ask about prices.

People on this forum are not always what they seem and so i totally agree with the previous poster that prices etc should not be posted on here.

I will say, from my personal experience, that for an hour one on one training you can pay anywhere from $40-$75 depending on the coach and their experience.

An established trainer with ODP, high level club and college links who has worked with top players is going to cost you more. Someone with a less established reputation will not cost as much.

We used to pay $30-40/session for 2 11 year old girls. Coach now has his own team at FCSC (Vancouver)

I agree that these two guys would be the best to use. They have been involved with some very good players that have gone on to play D1 college and represent Region IV ODP and National teams.

As a result it is not easy to get on their schedules but in my opinion it is well worth making contact and seeing what is available.

I see the confusion. I asked for prices about private coaching and a couple of you thought I was asking about these specific coaches. My apologies: I just want to know the prices of private coaching IN GENERAL. Not these specific people. Thanks!!!

These are the general prices that I have paid.

Becca Shook is also an excellent choice.
I would say that these are a very good guide to prices you should expect to pay if you are using the 'top' trainers in the area. I think that if you are not using the best trainers then you should not be paying as much as they do not have the same experience. Look at resumes and see exactly what these trainers have done and who they have worked with prior to making a significant financial outlay.

Thank you for this link. I did some checking around and this is not somebody that stands up to the best trainers in the area i am afraid. I would not pay good money to train with somebody that has no 'real' coaching experience and/or licenses.

The best approach is to rely on the recommendation of someone you know. (Same thing if you shop for a dentist.)

Be careful here....Many trainers cost a ton and you end up in a group with the assistant doing the work. DO NOT think that someone with less experience cannot train. Some of the college kids are the best as they are so motivated and love teaching skills. You don't have to find the "best" just the trainer that is the right fit for your kids current skill set.

Are we really talking about private coaching for a ten hear old? Am I the only one who thinks that sounds insane? These are kids we are talking about, Pele didn't have a private trainer, nor did Maradona, they had an insane work ethic, and a love of the game.

America has had his reputation for a long time, that if our kids like something we try to buy the world for them, this might give technical prowess and fitness, but what about passion and creativity?

Do the kids need the trainers, or do the adults?

I completely agree. I would not pay the extra money for a private trainer, especially at the age of ten. When I see something my child needs to work on I work with her. If I'm not sure how to do something myself I talk with her coach or I look up videos on youtube. She has the passion to get out on her own and work on things she feels she needs to improve on.

I have known many young kids who are private trained and have yet to see the real improvement throughout the year. Maybe once their older it helps but not at 8,9,10,11, or even 12. Nothing beats just getting out and kicking the ball around on your own!

"Sounds insane"? Yes, maybe they should all go to the funny farm. There goes half of this board!

You make a heap of assumptions about the motivations of getting training for kids, without knowing anything about the people involved. How do you know that the kids don't already have passion and creativity, and don't simply lack some technical skill?

There are a lot of kids getting special one-on-one help (tutoring) in many things and there's nothing wrong with that.

I suspect you believe that these kids are being forced to go to these sessions and that is why you take umbrage? Maybe that's the case for some but, again, let's not generalize without knowing the facts.

One thing to remember about soccer at age 10--this is the age that many will experience their first "selection" process. Parents (and not just American parents, by the way), as you point out, may try to get their kids the extra edge at tryouts, and private training helps there.

I totally agree here. It really depends on the player. They may be passionate, creative and motivated but lack the skills. My daughter started private training because she asked ME to get it for her because she saw the other players passing her up. I set her up and now, 2 years later, she made her high school varsity team.

Everyone's situation is different. If YouTube works for you and your kid can improve herself without expert help, that's awesome. If your kid needs help in some area, though, what's the issue with them getting a trainer?

Like another post wrote, it's like getting a tutor. If my ten year old needed help in Spanish (something I don't speak), and if I had the money and could afford it, I would get her a tutor.

I dont see why people have to cut down this idea.
