See what your kid wants to do.
You can throw all the money you have at your kid, but if he or she would rather sit texting or hang out than juggle the ball, you have your answer. Your kid should be looking for ways to get better, not you. They know their way around google and youtube. They can find videos about footwork and tactics. iSoccer has some great drills. Mark my words, if they just get out and get some amazing ball control and work on fitness they will be ahead of the game without fancy coaches telling them what they already know. With all that individual prep, they will shine for the better coaches and make their way up the ladder and get the tactical training from being on a good team. But the price of admission there is their own individual drive to be better. You can't buy that. You can't buy a or private training to inject that in them. Believe me. I'm out thousands and my kid is talking about volleyball.

Just unbelieveable
Wow, a person asks for recommendations and he gets none. However, someone tries to offer some advice. And in true TS fashion, some moron comes on and knocks that advice and in the process, names two potential candidates. Why not just name the candidates rather than berating the advice? If you have a recommendation, name them.

Personal Experience
I have seen some posts on here about Cory Sandvold, I have personally had my two children train with him and he is amazing.
He gets on their level, but also brings them to new levels. I have seen improvement in all of my daughter's games as well.
He has a few testimonials on his website if you check them out, but I think he is an amazing coach and has good prices for his lessons.
He is also good about running camps throughout the year for both field players and goalkeepers. He specializes in goalkeepers, but does just as amazing with field players (I have one of each).
Check him out...I believe I recently heard he was hired for the Varsity job at Aloha High School, was previously the Varsity Boys Coach at Liberty, has coached for FC Portland and is currently coaching here at the Lake Oswego Soccer Club. His About Us page on his website gives some good insight to what age levels he has coached as well.
Hope that helps anyone looking for a reference.

I could care less about who you're talking about. Your logic is poor. I googled the school and saw that your coach in question hasn't even coached a season there yet and you've already determined it was his fault for their record. Impressive reasoning. According to your logic, any coach that desires to work with a lower level team is not a good coach if they can't turn them into premier level teams or better.
Why trash a person. Just say you didn't care for them and move on or give specifics about why they're not a good coach. All you did is prove that your a voice that doesn't deserve credit.

Stupid people will never know who the good trainers are. I know of a handful of folks who do a great job of private training but damned if I will name them here. I don't want to see them denigrated on this board, and also I want to make sure that I get the prime times with them. If you don't know who the good trainers are, chances are your kid isn't very good. Most of the good trainers seek out the good players. It helps their reputation by training good players.
