fired coach girls U16 at LOSC and SSC?

Theres a thread at oregonlive girls soccer about the LOSC coach getting fired for the U16 girls team this year. What happened?

Anyone have any idea whose going to be the new coach there? Several of my daughters from HS friends play at THUSC and said that several of the LOSC girls told them they are going there now instead because of the coaching problems at LO and at least one (forward) is considering switching to a different age group. What is going on there? Is there more to this than we are hearing?

I ask because my daughter plays at a smaller club that won't have a team at the age level this year and we had considered the LOSC-SSC program but now are not sure. Anyone familiar with that team (the "Storm" I think) know about how many they may have at the try outs? Thanks.

This is a non-issue that unfortunately has more rumors than truth to it. No one has been fired and players aren't leaving in herds for other clubs. I think there is actually only one player leaving for another club; the others are staying and there may be 2 or 3 who are quitting club soccer to focus on other things. The team is actually the NEW U16 team (Dynamite), not the old U16 team (Storm); they are getting a new coach, but the old coach still works for the club so no one has been fired. Coaches move on or are reassigned all the time for one reason or another. The new coach is also the coach of the Storm and he did a wonderful job with that group last year, and he'll coach both groups this season. It sounds like there will be plenty of opportunity for the two groups to train together, and for the U16 players to fill in for the U17 players if there are any conflicts or players unable to go to tournaments. Should be a great training and development year if you're a LO player.
