    OR/WA/CA soccer... why the difference?

I was wondering what everyone's opinion was on the difference between us and Washington and California. Is it strictly that they have more kids who play soccer? Are the coaches better? Training more intense? I remember reading on here that in Southern California the boys train 2x a week and cross-train 2x a week. That seems much more intense than here.

As the previous poster said, yes to everything you said. The real reason is the population difference. Everything else derives from that.

california's weather makes it better for outdoor training all year long. in the larger cities, they do have more kids playing with less clubs diluting the talent pool

This is a red herring. A diversity of clubs with good competition makes for the best overall soccer.

sure it is locally. but when you get to say USYSA regionals, the talent pool is diminished and so the club teams cannot compete at the same level.
