Reading the other post about how much play time for your kid got me thinking about fitness training. I know some clubs have one extra practice a week that works on nothing but fitness, conditioning and endurance training. I know that Oregon's most hated club offers fitness every wednesday night. What do most other clubs offer? Kickinballz

With extra training they just outlast other oppenents. This might sound crazy I think they had either a Ex Army Ranger or Navy Seal training them at one time.

I know most clubs in Southern Cal on the boys side have 2 regular practices and 2 cross training a week. We were surprised to find out that most clubs in SW Washington do not offer these types of training.

When choosing a club we asked if the club offered a fitness training and most said no so we went to the club that did and it was the best decision ever. Talk about kids that work hard and never give up, my daughter is in the shape of her life and usually plays all game and it doesn't bother her. It really shows on the field the fitness level and especially when you have a tournament with 5 games they are still strong at the end.

The "Oregon's most hated club" comment is a little out of line don't you think?

Anyway, yes, Mike Ford works the kids hard every Wednesday night for a couple hours. Normal practices for us begin with distance runs then consists of drills, skills training, situations and then sprints.
Hope that answers the question.

I think it is great to run 4-6 laps before practice to warm-up but I wouldn't want fitness interferring with my childs practice too much. Having a dedicated day for fitness is a much better idea.

SSC Crush was conditioning every Monday for 1.5 hours, but now have increased their twice weekly team training to include 30 minutes of both long and short distance running.

SSC Success
I believe in their last 7 matches, which they have all lost, they have been outscored in the range of 17 to 1.
