Why are we all beating around the bush.

    The club is THUSC
The recruiting/stock piling teams are.... drum roll...

    Ireland and Sodium

There it is out in the open.

Hmmm, I wasn't aware Ireland had any new players. Just watched them yesterday. Also watched Sodium. I know they had at least 5 at ODP camp, had pulled one up from Mercury, one player who had quit her team and was a sister of a Neon player and one guest.

Well, I guess if it's a slow day in forumland than that's newsworthy.

As far as I know Sodium is stacked with players that have been with Thusc for many, many years. I know quite a few of them have been with Sodium since U11. I would think that any team that wins state at U11 and U12 is going to automatically attract new talent. I doubt you would even have to recruit for that team as naturally talent would flock to it.

As far as Ireland goes the team followed the coach. I see no problem with Thusc accepting the team if that is what the parents wanted.

Get over it. Coaches can recruit and it's up to the players and parents to decided to stay or leave. For the person who asked about "we'll take your daughter if you can bring the best player with you" tatic, I say if you're dumb enough to go for it then that's your problem.

Wait, didn't both Ireland and Sodium win State Cup this year........?

Oh yeah, that's why they get bashed, because other teams aren't as good. Sorry, lost my head there for a minute.

            Ha Ha Ha!! Great post!

I believe SSC was getting bashed last week so it must be Thusc's turn this week. If any parents on the boys side were posting then WSM and ESUFC would be taking turns. Sadly, it seems only the girls parents seem to post. Why is it that girls soccer is so filled with drama and the boys side seems to avoid it?

The player movement sucks for my team because it's just going to be harder to beat Sodium, a difficult enough task last year. But is it wrong? Not from my perspective.

Ever read "men are from mars women from Venus"? This should answer your question pretty quickly. It seems this whole forum is pretty focused on female teams.

It would seem that some of the thread is moving into either a defensive of THUSC mode or bashing of THUSC mode. I would like to hear opinions that have nothing to do with THUSC.

Should players and parents be expected to act with integrity when they change clubs? Does competetive soccer have anything to do with life lessons? Is this only to do with the game and therefore anything goes?

I vote for integrity. This would include coaches, parents and players from any club not just THUSC. I say this because some of life's best teachers can be coaches. At least in my life the most influencial person that I ever met taught me so much more than sports because he held honesty and integrity in such high regard. Amazingly he was still able to win.

I like to think that sports teach us alot about life. For example, they teach us to work with others whether we like them or not. This is a lesson that is useful throughout childhood and adulthood. Sometimes working with others is unpleasant ... like telling the truth when it isn't what the recipient wants to hear.

So, the question for me is not whether it is okay to recruit. It is whether there should be some due process that is self imposed that keeps it honest and keeps it from either being construed wrong or from actually being wrong.

                    Not Again

This forum is constantly hijacked by whiners. I popped on to hope to hear about summer tournaments, but we get this tired topic.

We all get it. You think other club(s) recruit players and are evil, and the club your child plays for is as pure and ethical as can be. We understand that the parents and kids that choose to move to a team that is full of top-notch players are being manipulated by terrible coaches, and you and your child choose to stay on a team that is all about development.

So, good for you, we are all glad that you have been able to make the right decisions for your child and judge everyone else who doesn’t make the same decision you do.

How about you just be happy with the decisions you have made for your child, and let others make the right decision for their child. I never see them criticizing you for your choices, but I sure see you criticizing them.

No more on “recruiting” please, we all have heard it over and over again – we got it!

                    Let's move on!

It is a boring subject....everyone recruits even the little guys try to get some of the bog players. Ever go to a small tourney and see a top player playing for a small club with his/her friends? Same stuff, but who cares. My kids has been recruited and players from our team recruited. It just doesn't matter. When the kids get to be about 16 there are only a few competitive teams left anyway....

When the goal of the unstated club's DOC is to build his resume and pad his ego over actually developing and/or even caring about his players, then this is the scenario you will get. You the player only exist for his desire to win at all costs. Because this club exists for his glory, he built it right? Or you can always pay thousands of extra dollars to directors in the club for private training which may help you keep your spot. Definitely not winning with any integrity. And you can see from the boys side how much effort is put into development. If you aren't a winner now, you will not get any of his attention because you can't provide him anything.

Simple solution for you then, don't play at that club. Whatever happened to if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all? If you're unhappy with a club then leave. That is the beauty of having so many choices. There is no reason to bash another club.

Oh brother, here we go again. Can't beat'em, bash'em! Someone always has to try to blame this DOC for everything. Look familiar? Just like our current administration blaming everything on the Bush administration. If you don't like it, take responsibility for yourself and your player and just go somewhere else.

                              Whine, whine, whine.

I agree with the last 2 posts. And to add; from what I can tell, this club is trying to bolster the boys side by bringing in new coaches and trying to attract new talent. Of course, other clubs have already "recruited" all the top talent so indeed, it will be an uphill battle.
