Your news is old
OYSA already decided that the Rush player in question was eligible, case closed as far as OYSA is concerned.

Don't want to stir the pot, but just curious about what would make a player ineligible?
Wrong age, not on the roster by the cutoff date, and ??

Believe that would be the goalkeeper that had moved to California last year but stayed on the roster. They flew her in the night before the final game and she played the second half plus the overtime.

See post 2, OYSA has already ruled in favor of Rush, the player was eligible, Rush is going to regionals. WSM was told a few days ago that as far as OYSA is concerned the case is closed.

Sad thing was for the goalkeeper that got the team to that point. Guess that is what "competitive" soccer is all about?

Ruling is not complete
WSM is appealing for information.
The player in questions moved from Bend to California, then ended up in Montana.
The ruling is being appealed because you have to live in the State when the Club registered you. If the player was living in California or Montana at the time they were registered, then the player would be viewed as ineligible.
There is a ton of public information in Montana that the player lived there and played sports.
The Club and Coach could have avoided all the problems registering the player in Montana and then transfer to Oregon. Never did this.

The Player was allow to have live in Montana and register in Oregon based on custodial parent. USYSA Closed the loop on this.

Better question
Why would the Bend club even open this 'loop'?
Kid lives full time in Montana with parent not the custodial parent in Bend?
Truly not in the spirit of the game to have players who live full time in Montana register at the 11th hour for state cup in Oregon

Funny Irony
Bend club stays in the OYSA which actually restricts out of state players to an Oregon State Cup roster. An association that is littered with much red tape to have an out of state player player for an Oregon Championship.
US Club soccer the new governing body of the OPL doesn't have this kind of rigid system.
Yet the Bend club chose to stay and play in the OYSA.
Now I understand what a contradiction this Bend club has made of themselves.
BTW my nephew lives in Colorado and would love to join them in next year's state cup. 15 years ago I was granted custody of my nephew but things worked out and he lives full time with my brother in Colorado. So he is legal to play for Bend, if they want to win.

Hey Funny Irony
If you are a part of an OPL club, which it seems you are, and your are from the Portland metro area, what are the chances that your club has players from Southern WA registered? I would bet nearly every OPL founding club has WA players who have never resided in OR, don't go to school here, etc., but play in your club, and played for the OR State Championship. Does your kid play ODP? If so, his/her team has WA players on it.
There are policies for these types of situations, which aparently Rush followed.

Difference is
They (OYSA teams with Wa Playerers) have kids who live in SW Washington don't do a clever work-around and then claim they actually reside in Oregon. They get released from the state they reside in and play in Oregon a few miles away.
Unlike the Bend club who have a full-time Montana resident not fill out any release and claim they actually reside in Oregon.
Rush..Rush..Rush..
