Hpothetical: What happens when a new super stud comes to your team?

I am curious if any parents from teams like Sodium ever get worried about their own youth athlete. Just using Sodium as an example, it looks like a full roster. So, does someone lose a spot every time another super athlete is brought on board? Where do those girls go? Another club? B team? ESUFC doesn't currently have this problem :) on the girls side, but I would love it if we did!!

I wish that great athletes from the east side of the river would come tryout!!

Even better idea - send them over those little hills to Bend! Good times!!
    And Happy Mothers' Day!

I will answer this since I am a Sodium parent.

First, I don't view our team has having any 'Super Studs' to begin with. Yes we have ODP players but you can sub out at nearly every position with a player who is of equal or greater strength. I believe that IS our strength.
Second, there are never any surprises on this team. All of a sudden there isn't some all world player [Super Studette] attending practice with a United shirt on. The only time we look to add a player is if we have a position we are trying to fill and/or there is available room on the roster. The normal routine during the season is the coaches review the players who have contacted us, then to known identified players and then to unknown identified players to find the player that fits our current needs.
The team is always in the loop. The player(s) will guest play and also practice with the team to make sure there is chemistry. If all is good, an invitation is made. If not, they keep looking. There is not always a good fit even if the player is outstanding.

During tryouts it's a different story. Like with all teams (I think) it's every player for themselves and you better bring your "A" game. Our coach made it clear a couple years ago that no position is safe and you have to earn it every tryout, every practice and every game.

      Hope this helps to clarify.

It just looks like a full roster. So, I am not trying to offend anyone but I know first hand that some people could come to the team and I am wondering if when that happens does someone have to go? I don't know how many girls are rostered so it is more out of curiousity.

Personally, I see it as a great thing. It is a problem that I would love to see happen on the East side of town, but isn't lkely!!

I'm not easily offended these days and wasn't by the question. :)
This year really was the exception when it came to the roster. We had a spot open and when we were approached by a player who we brought on to play indoor that she would like to join full time, it brought it to 18. As with every team in every bracket there is going to be players who leave. For whatever reason; moving, geography, age, other sports, like another club better or whatever. So there will be spots opening and closing throughout the season. Hopefully early on to give the girls time to get their mojo working together! LOL!

            Great job this weekend!

The answer is yes to your question about Sodium players being bumped out when new one's to come. Roster appears to be at 19, 19th is yet official. She will bump out a forward for sure. I would tend to agree that if parents are wanting the kid to be on the team they seek out the coach and the coach evaluates them during guest practices. But as far as the team keeping in the loop is BS. The parents have to go around asking questions on who, when and where the player came from during these practices. This 19th player even came on board during state cup run while she was playing on her team too. She was even seen wearing her united gear at the finals. How is that for a quit the team statement? It is too bad that coach seems to rack up the better players from other teams than to just develop the one's he has already. Typical DOC fashion. I would imagine the bottom players will get hacked and replaced. It doesn't take a genius to do the math Sodium parents. You have 19 already, then take all the other how ever many that are coming over for try out's, you take the bottom and begin hacking those away to fill in for the super star newbies. Then ask yourself once the roster is set for the new season who is on the bottom now?

SF, don't get torked over this now. I can't help it if I lend an ear to your complainers on your team. I can't help it if they chose not to stand up and tell you what they really think of you and your website and some other of your parents or even on this topic. I get it though, why complain and show yourself when your kid is sitting on the bench? That is a for sure out on the team. Maybe somewhere along the way those parents drank the koolaid. I wonder what they will think of your team or your coach when they get that call after try out's?

You ask a simple and complex question. Every player has to try out for the team, all the girls know it is a job interview and they must preform to make it on team. In 2008 1 of players parents thought the grass was greener at another club and she still plays for them. I know with sodium only had 1 player that did not remake the team that was the goalie from 2009 season. Pretty much every year there has been 2-4 girls who either moved out of state or have chosen to play other sports or take time off from soccer. So honestly there is always been an opening on roster for new players to join the team. They are all compete for play time.

Like mentioned in previous post I don't think or believe that sodium has a super stud or a go to player. Simple answer is if they are a true stud they will probably get quite a bit of play time. A person also must remember a player can be a super stud on one team and be one of the best players on the next team. That is not any sort of put down on any ones daughter.

This year with most girls heading into high school, with some clubs not offering U-15 opprtunities, I would expect good numbers for tryouts for all clubs it will be a bulking up year for every team.

In professional sports good players gravitate towards good teams, in general the best players play for the best teams. Yes I know some exceptions exist.

Or, maybe nobody is cut from the program. Maybe there is two teams in the Premier bracket. If there is other superstars coming to Sodium, and one of those girls gets bumped, it's not like they wont have deep pool of players to pull from each team. Who are all these people trying out for Sodium that you speak of? Can you confirm? You seem to know much ado about nothing.

This is competive soccer forum right? Boy o boy your panties must be to tight. Why worry about what someone elses team is doing, be concerned your team and what you can do to make it better.

Wouldn't you like to know who is coming over! Scared they are leaving your team? Scared they are coming to your team and it is your kid that will get bumped? I will let you wait until try out's. For the second team stack, ha! Your insight is laughable. For the previous poster and suggestion to your second team stack I would say head to another club then be on the B team. Guest player for the A is given for recruitment practices.

Who has the worry? Remember I am commenting on the parents already on the team since they chose to not cry out loud. I have no worries. I am quit happy where my kid plays thank you. But I did point out the rules. No coach should be set apart from the others when it comes to abiding by them or should I say not abiding by them. Are you only worried that this was posted for others to see? Trust me I posted but everyone already knew. Big town, small soccer community you know.

I personally didn't hear you say anything shocking so I don't see why any poster would be worried about others seeing your post. All teams have parents who are happy and some who are not. ALL DOC's are looking for the top talent and all the DOCs do some sort of recruiting. Those with the best teams and coaches win. Simple as that.

                            Hijackers

Sorry to see this thread get Hijacked. Next time why don't you start your own thread with everything wrong with oregon soccer and how upset you are with it. Original poster asked a question so do your best to answer it. Seems pretty simple to me.
