    wow

So I heard that part of the Jr. Hotshots and their coach (who is also the coach of the u14 hotshots) where seen at THUSC tryouts. Any comments? Is this true? Will Iridium be much better?

I wasn't there but I believe this is correct. Not sure how much it will improve and already very good team.

Tom and the Hotshots coach. Wow a tough combination. Iridium will be very good now. The Jrs had at least 5 very good players and the rest were rec players. Will Sodium get any players? Sodium and Hotshots together would be a killer team.

Yes, it's true. But Thusc Iridium lost 3 starters and 1 additional player as well. We'll have to see how good they are now. They lost both starting center mids and their left back. I was never impressed with the Hotshots.

One decided to play her age (U12), two went to persue other sports, and I'm not sure about the defender. Heard she went to FC but I don't know.

The THUSC coach is in my thought and prayers. What a very difficult thing to go through. His daughter is a great player and I hope she continues with the sport that her and her dad truly love.

SSC Crush doesn't have any girls that made the final 42 ODP State roster, and certainly not the top 18 ODP Regional Camp roster for 97's. They had, what, 2 who made the Eugene roster, but that was 41 girls from the Portland area only, that was when the whole pool was still at over 100. WSM had one in the final pool, but was let go recently, as did Tualatin Rage. Not Crush though.

However the 97 pool is far weaker over the other ages, they just didn't get a good turn-out. Large maybe but not the best players. And even those best ones who did show up? A few great ones were missed and only a handful of the girls on the ODP team, from start to now, are really the best in their age group. Making the original pool or even the cuts along the way isn't a big accomplishment really. It should be, but it just isn't anymore. You just don't see those top players coming out, and no, I am not talking about Crush, but every top player of 97 age in general.

So yes, SSC Crush, and really any other top U12 and U13 (now U13 and U14) team doesn't have a good turn-out on ODP, but it isn't only due to not being picked. If you look at the 96 ODP girls, most are of the upper age group, so are soon to be U15's. If you look at the 97's, they didnt see many of the top U13 players come out (now U14 players), and those who did? A few great ones made it, and a handful were missed in the original try-outs, leading to extremely weak age pool.

My child is now U12, and is a 98, so was eligible to try-out as a play-up. I saw the try-outs and have watched the pool whittle down, and can really say there are only a handful of great players in the 97 pool now, the pool was really weak to start with. Far cry from the 96 and 95 groups. We watch a lot of soccer at now U14 and U13 age, and the top players from the new U14 age group are not in ODP except for 3-4 of them. Same with the now U13 age group, a few, 2 maybe, are ODP. ODP just isn't what it could be.

and what does this have to do with the U12G State Cup?
SSC Crush doesn't need to have players in ODP (either they were cut or chose not to tryout) to win State Cup. Don't take away from the accomplishments of these kids making it thru the state championship and winninng it; with some off topic of discussion about how ODP is falling apart.

                            Wow

You guys/gals are sick. This is 11 year old soccer not freaking professional soccer. Calm down... many of these players will stop playing in a couple of years.. especially with parents with your attitude. Enjoy your kids now ..they grow up fast.

Amen to that. When your kids look back on their career as youth soccer players, will they remember a fun envirionment where they were able to achieve all they could, or will they remember a constant pressure from their parents, or even worse that their parents tried to tear down the opponents in order to make them look better?

Enjoy these years. If the kids are having fun, something is being done right, if it becomes a job, we as parents should probably look at ourselves.

                                Love it

The super star crush team is getting CRUSHED in regionals. I hope the parents learn that SSC and Oregon Soccer in general is in the DARK AGES.

They play 11 v11 too young, you forget to teach real soccer and most importantly you have parents that think you have a world cup team, when you actually have a rec team in socal.

Hey U12 parents wake up and realize that the absolute best of the best in OR at the younger ages get their asses handed to them in Regionals. But please keep flying them in the parents need to see real soccer in the rest of the country go home and shut the f'up.

BTW for you SSC parents who believe you have a 'special team', try scoring a goal in Regionals before using the word 'special'
