I think they could of won it without taking the easier course to get there.

I personally don't think the the Oregon ODP pool was very strong at all for the '97's so that means nothing to me. With or without additions I know Crush will be a strong team this coming season and I definitely wish them the best of luck in New Mexico!
Actually it was FC that scored 2 goals and LO scored 1 against Crush. Rage did not score any goals against Crush in the spring league, they lost the game 3-0, even though it doesn't show on the website (since no referees showed up for the game).

Crush finished the season 8/0/0, 24 Goals For, 3 Goals against.
Rage finished the season 5/2/1, 13 Goals For, 5 goals against.

I got this off the OPL website just now.

In comparison to the 96 girls, your right, the pool isnt as strong, big or aggressive. lets hope they make it up with tenacity and skills. though I dont think that any other team in the state had as many girls make the 1st cut in the portland pools as Crush did, and all but two made it to the regional tourney in eugene.

where are they ? too good to show up ?

They obviously dont belong to any of the top 8 U12 teams as their best did. And if they dont, then they must really stick out like a sore thumb with all their greatness spewing all over the field playing in the silver brackets or presidents cup.

Trinidad, Crush, England and the boys OSSA U17 (i think) were in the finals, with the OSSA team and Crush coming out on top.

        3. SS has crappy practice fields
2 turf fields and a professionally prepared city park is crappy ? you must live in Lake Oswego and are still bent from loosing to Crush in the finals.

        4.
SS does not have enough quality coaches
It only takes one coach at a time. having a slew of over paid "know it all's" does not make you a wining program.

        5.
SS used to have the Tigard, Tualatin, Sherwood, Wilsonville area to themselves for the most part, not anymore.
Crush team is made up of 3 girls from Tualatin, 3 from Sherwood, 2 from Canby, 1 from Aloha and the rest from the Tigard area. That seems like a lot of "out of towners" (9 of 16) to me for not having much of a geographical pull.

        6.
SSC did have players make the ODP 1st cut...none made the final squad...lack of skills.
Only 2 actually went to the sub-regional tourney. the others dropped along the way after the 1st & 2nd cuts. they were not asked to leave, they left for various reason. Did your player make it ? How many others from her team made it along the way (1st, 2nd and final) ?

        7.
Finances make SS an expensive choice as their fees are much higher.
their fees are just $100 more than WSM. I blew that on drinks tonite. Quit crying.

        8.
They do not have any College placement program in place. All of the other good clubs do.
Good for them. That is why ODP, College Showcase tourneys and OSAA state championships are so important. Teams arent selected to go to college, players are. Being a great player on a crappy team with one of your "good clubs" wont get you anywhere either.

Take a look at the High School teams in the Portland area in say 3 years. Watch How either Tigard or Tualatin is on top. To think that FC Portland, WSM, LO, THUSC or OSA had nothing to do with it.

Winning early will never compare to a girl playing in High School and College

Not true, these are just what I know WUSC had 3 and I think 5 across the club (U12/U13. 3 still in. 1 from LO still in. At least 2 from FC but different age groups still in.

Pool Play at the State Cup

            Rage: 4/0/0 14 Goals for 1 against
            SSC: 2/1/1 10 Goals for 5 against

Though from what I have read, SSC wanted to teach their girls how to throw matches so that is why they did not do as well in Pool Play.

easy to point fingers and complain from the sidelines isnt it. its even easier when your the looser to conjure up excuses why the chips just didnt fall your way today.

but it didnt. Crush did not loose to any team last fall or this spring (tied one in the fall). call it luck, call it good timing, call it what you like. facts are facts and no other team can say that. when it counts they won.

the coach had never been to a state cup. he asked for advice from the DOC and was given it.

                    why

why would SS throw the game against CFC? They even lost in Pk's. They could have just thrown one game and still gotten the "better" placement. Weird

I don't think this is right either. I thought Ron was one of the only coaches to take a B team to state cup at SS, and Kibwe has certainly been there

exactly. the others here would lead you to believe that it was all the coaches/clubs doing that caused the losses. That would then imply as though the players were in on it too, missing PK's, goalie no blocking kicks, etc. It's all a BIG conspiracy plot like Watergate and Monica Lewinsky :)

Kibwe was not at the CFC game until well after the half
