FC has proven every year that they dominate the girls side. And more recently with the boys' younger teams as well.
Last year, FC sent 7 or 8 girls teams to the state cup final. That is consistancy.
It is unfair to rate FC teams on league play because the U11-U14 teams do not play to win in the fall. It is development. Look at how they come on spring and state!
I guess that clears that up. Some parents must consider those teams that do best in the state cup to be the best teams. While I think the state cup is a fun tournament, it doesn't always lend itself to being outstanding play. For example, last year we played a state cup game in a foot of water and I will be dog goned if our passing game was off. I know that if we were looking for a club to move to neither FC Portland or SSC would be on the list. I just don't see that level of play from either club at any age group since Ireland went to THUSC. In fact, I have never thought of FC Portland as dominating. Especially on the boys side. Eastside holds that record.

The only clubs that have demonstrated consistently noticable results in the U14G are THUSC, Oregon Rush and LO. Beyond that it comes down to who shows up to play that day and how motivated they are. The state cup tournament is the time to bring it on if you are going to, however the clubs I am speaking to bring it in league play as well as state cup.

Funny. FC boys have beaten eastside boys every single match this year. this is u11 boys. 5,6,7 or more to 0. the u12 boys at fc have beaten eastside easily as well. times are changing on the boys side for sure.

To add to that, FC Portland has dominated on the boys side at U11 and U12. Both groups are very skilled. The incoming U11 boys are going to be just as solid.

Also, Eastside boys have been coming to FC practices looking to join!

Not sure that many coaches/clubs think of state as a "fun" tournament. That is the one tournament every team is wanting to win.

How funny to think anything different! LOL

What? That is outlandish. Where are the cries of recruiting and other evil deeds?

Oh, wait, those are reserved for THUSC only.

True, but can you site how many State Cup Championships did those 7 or 8 girls teams brought home?

Factually, there were 6 teams from U11 to U19 but sadly, only one brought home a championship.

The eastside players are coming because they see that FC has a great team not because of recruitment!

And this is of course not the case with THUSC Neon, Sodium, Iridium, or Onyx right?

and also shows a lack of being able to finish in "The Big One".

Good point! Somehow THUSC and LO have done well in both state cup and league play (without the "development" that FC does during league play).

I think at U11 and U12 it is about development. I am talking about big boy soccer and scholarships and professional play. That is what Eastside does well. I have no doubt that U11 and U12 ESUFC teams are getting beat. Look at U19, U18, U17 that is what it all evolves to. So, I am not knocking FC Portland as I think it is a solid club. I don't rank it any higher than ESUFC though and I think when you talk about times a changing ESUFC has proven that they can compete. They are a very young club and have demonstrated a consistent barage of premier teams with some very high level play at the older age groups. My point is that it is not likely that an ESUFC person would move to FC Portland to get a higher level of play and visa versa. In order to qualify for higher level play you would want to play on a team that brings it everytime they step on the field irrespective of whether it is "Just League play" or state cup.

When I think of high level soccer I guess U11 and U12 are not the first age groups to pop into my mind. No doubt there is some good soccer at those age groups but things will change alot by the time they get to high school age ball and are looking at scholarships.
