    Cardable offenses? Count the infractions

    http://www.faniq.com/blog/BYU-vs-New...ght-Blog-31934

1 yellow given, how pathetic. The coach should bench the girl.

    Count the infractions.

That defender is down right nasty. There is good physical play but this is ridiculous! Get that player off of the field!

It's one thing thing to play aggressive, which is cool, but to play with intent to injure another player? No way. She needs to go.

        Curious question, to you posters.
I have seen young girls play soccer and when they are tackled, a lot of them jump back up and play on, while in my son's games, the player might have the same thing happen, but his response is to try and milk the infraction for a card. If this was a professional men's game, then, you know that the player would have fallen like a sack of rocks and rolled around on the ground trying to get a card. The stretchers would have been on the field. Do we tell our daughters to "man up" and our sons to flop and get the card? Is the way the women play the game different than the men? Do they try to be tougher? You know that there is not a male player that would have stood for that sort of physical play from another opponent for that long. Is the way the women view the game, and the men different? Do the women try and be tougher to impress the coach, and the men try and be drama queens in order to impress the coach?

That is so funny you pose this question. My daughter and I were watching a match and she made the same comment. Then, after I called her over to watch the video, she confirmed her statement again. The guys put on a big show, you'd think their leg was severed right below the knee. Whereas the girls, as shown on the video, just jump up and try to win the ball back.

I can't comment on what the boys are being taught, but the girls are taught to "tough it out" when on the pitch.

          Great question!

Response I made to "Sports Psychologist say women athletes tend to be more honest and fair".

Honest and fair? I assume then that you mean that if a woman is playing a game and she has her head jerked back, has her legs taken out, gets slapped in the face, then the "fair" reaction is to do nothing. To act as though is that, that is the way the game is played. No drama, just get up and play on. That this sort of roughness is just part and parcel of the game?
Then, I guess that men are "unfair" and less "honest" because they know that what took place, is not fair and is not honest, so they might as well stick it to the other player, via a red card. That reaction is not "honest or fair?"
I think what has happened since title 9 is, that women are trying to act more like what they THINK a female athlete should do and that is to "man up" not whine, play on. That a lot of coaches are proud of how "tough" their female players are. Where is this going.............?
I think that there are some issues here that should be addressed. Why are we proud that our daughters take abuse, like on the video, and then we are proud of our sons, when they did not?

I have both a son and a daughter who play, and have seen some physical play on both of their teams, but nothing like this-this video is not playing soccer, it's playing nasty. Everything she did was intentional. I do think that girls tend to take more, as they are trying to show how tough they are, vs. the boys who tend to "milk" their perceived injustices on the field. Just watch any of the male pro players-they are all great actors! I think that's where the boys get it-they think they have to emulate the pros they see. My question is where was the ref and linesmen in this game??? And I would love to hear their comments after watching this video of the game they officiated! Besides being benched for the rest of the season, #15 should have to take the video to show some high school soccer teams and explain to them why what she did was wrong!

Its a complete joke that the coach suspended her and let her take all of the blame. I've coached girls and womens soccer for over 12 years and there is no way in hell the coach wasn't aware of what was going on. By leaving Lambert in the game, the coach not only sent the wrong message to the player but also subjected the opponents to serious injury. If the coach disagreed with her behavior enough to suspend her indefinitely, why did she only do so once the media was made aware of what happened? If the coaching staff had any quality about them, they would have removed her from the field and told her to go get out of her uniform.

The coaching staff is just as culpable if not more than Lambert is. Its even worse that they attempt to throw her under the bus and let her take all of the blame as they turn a blind eye. Soccer is already a sport that is behind every other major sport in the US and coaches and players like this set it back even further. They should all be ashamed and they do not deserve to call themselves coaches.

Don't get me started on the referee, he was incompetent at best and should never referee a collegiate level match again. He'd be best served at recreational under 12 kids where he doesn't have to be competent to keep players safe from each other on the field.
