A local Florida politician has apologized for telling a public meeting that blowing a hairdryer up your nose can cure the coronavirus.

Okeechobee County Commissioner Bryant Culpepper bragged about his background as a paramedic as he hailed the madcap “cure” that he saw “one of the foremost doctors who has studied the coronavirus” reveal on cable TV.

“This sounds really goofy — and it did to me too — but it works,” he told Friday’s meeting of his commission, as caught on video.

“The answer was you use a blow dryer. You hold a blow dryer up to your face and you inhale with your nose and it kills all the viruses in your nose,” he insisted.

The economic assistance package to help support businesses and workers who have been harmed by this outbreak? Deferred tax payments for individuals and businesses negatively impacted by the coronavirus? The authority to provide loans to businesses affected by the coronavirus? Taking emergency action to provide financial relief for workers who are ill, quarantined, or caring for others due to the coronavirus? The leveraging all of our resources to respond to the coronavirus, bringing together government and private industry in a collaborative response? The mandatory screening for all travelers coming into the country from Italy and South Korea? The bold steps to incentivize the development of therapeutics and vaccines to treat and prevent the spread of the coronavirus? The more than 1 million tests have been distributed nationwide, with another 4 million tests being shipped out by the end of the week? The drive by testing centers pooping up all over? The all hands on deck for resources to include ventilators and PPE that were never replenished by the Obama administration? The experimental drug treatments while awaiting a vaccine?
