Truth, if you are in the earliest "cycle" and get chosen for Region III team early on it is hard for a girl show up later and break in - too much momentum.

That is true- took my daughter 3 years to break into it after getting called up 2 and 3 times the first couple of years. But- it can be done.

Well then your daughter is missing out. How much pressure is your kid under at home?
Does she even like soccer anymore or as a parent did you ruin it for her? Some things are meant for fun and personal growth with like minded children. It’s doesnt have to be all about the win or the coach. Sometimes a fun experience can click for some players and change everything about how they see the game. I’m glad my daughter went to Alabama this weekend. For the record she isn’t on the A team or the C team. Right in the middle having the time of her life.

Ecnl kids do odp all the time

I have seen at least 5-15 kids from each age group (boys at least) who are on ECNL teams. I don't understand why all these people claim that ECNL is better when I will bet that its just as good if not better at the state/region level for odp. 03 team is a prime example

Take the best from ECNL or whatever league and will have elite teams at ODP especially those making state and region ODP.

No. You want to think that, but it’s not the case.

There are good players at the regional ODP level for sure, but it’s not an ECNL or GdA all star type level...get real.

The top level players are at national camps, or at national playoffs, or at high level college ID camps, so they can speak with the coaches. Sorry...but that’s true.

Personally, I think ODP is a great concept and platform. However, have a realistic expectation of the talent there, please. It’s good for certain, but it is not top of the top.

All this BS and you missed his point! There are plenty of kids who mysteriously pop up on the Florida first team! This is a fact, and I speak for the girls group! Donations and checks get written. Kids get moved.. Quite a few who jumped from third teams to first? Hmmm could it be there is some local influence? Mike Strickland ? Politics at its best. He needs to go and some new young blood who actually have a grasp of soccer should be brought in! This is why Florida lags in the soccer world! Way too much $$$ influence and not enough attention to what’s important . The kid and how he/she progresses .. But unfortunately there are no changes coming other than DA and the slow progression of kids OUT of ODP 👍

It's hard to make the National camps or the roster of 18 for the southeast GODP region team. The talent is continuing to develop throughout their teens and into college. By the way, how many Florida 03 girls and boys made it into the southeast region odp pool?

Well!! When the coach of the Florida team happens to be from a local club that just merged with another club here in south Florida , those kids do get taken care of! It’s VERY obvious and Politics all the way! Very hard to cut a kid that’s part of your own club even if the taken is NOT there !

Politics in everything in life but getting to the region pool
and team will require skill, politics and luck.

My kid saw the politics first hand. It was so obvious the State coach told the group politics prevented a kid from being selected to the pool and region in favor of a connected kid. Just sucks because the kid (not mine) was better then the one that made it.

There is a reason why the United States is not in the World Cup. Youth Soccer in this nation is filled with liars that say it is all about the kids and talk about development but all they care about is their kid and building their bank account. It you pay for club but someone could pay for private training and club, who do you think gets the spot even if the kid paying for private training sucks and actually practices less then the better kids.
