Agree, but the push is strong to get DA away from the non-MLS clubs. If Beckham gets his group up and running and OCYS has a DA team, those will be the only two in Florida. They will turn into residency situations so where you live won't matter as the kids will live there.

Time table is probably 2 or 3 years out.

way longer than that....The issue with going all MLS is the federation loses the control they currently have over those other clubs..MLS Da clubs already have issues and from what I have heard have kicked out a certian USSDA scout from their facilities, because of his meddling in their program.

Clubs are all about non profit yet there is many examples in all clubs showing a way to get around the NON profit for profit ..... The ethics have gone form youth soccer and now impact the very fabric of youth sports wow what a wake up call for all.

Isn't a club and its director or board just a bunch of good teenage boys and girls in a high school click laughing all the way to the prom ! Mr.and Ms. popularity your not going to get away from it the only way is to go to a club that has an internal accredited us soccer academy i.e. Boca United,Weston etc....

The northeast, Dallas, Chigago, Cali, triangle areas when it comes to youth soccer programing...considering all the kids and year round field access it is actually pretty pathetic that FL has not figured it out. With Orlando and the possible Beckham MLS franchise there is hope...unfortunately it will not happen in our kids youth soccer window.

i don't disagree the clubs are abysmal. But the parents are just as much if not more to blame. Watch u9 and u10 and its all about the result. Not one parent is interested in their kid learning how to play good soccer. They want to win and cheer for their kids. It's about them. It's not about the kid learning how to play. That's how youth soccer begins and it just continues from there. Don't dare tell a parent her or his kid is not good enough. How can you have high standards of everyone's u10 is a future star because the clubs don't want to hire a coach that is honest with parents ?

I can think of multiple examples from my own experience of parents that are completely fooled into believing their kids will be professionals or receive scholarship money and in the meantime their kids are learning absolutely nothing about the game. It seems that parents are generally ignorant. I don't know how else to explain the choices they make. Yes, it is wrong of clubs to fool people for $. But it is equally or more the fault of parents that do not insist on real coaching and when they do get real coaching do not let the coaches do their job.

The whole south florida super cup and mega cup proves how soccer here is about the money and not the kids. The clubs are now telling coaches and teams which tournaments they can go to this soceer season.

Neither the team nor its coach should have the final say or even the majority of input into tournament participation decisions. It is the obligation of the DOC to help the coach decide which of the available tournaments are best suited for his or her team.

before kids travel to national and showcase tournaments, say u9-u14, in that age range, what does it matter whether kids go to megacup or supercup? or wellington or kelme cup? or Weston or Disney president's day? if the parents and coach decide, why even get involved? I would think a DOC would be important in finding the right tournaments for u15s-u18s. But a DOC that gets involved to insist that a u10 team attend megacup and not supercup is not a DOC that is doing what should be his job. I am answering just in theory. I have no one in mind and no axe to grind. It boils down to this: $$$$ the more teams a club registers, there has to be some quid pro quo. That's the only reason a DOC would want to control what the little dudes do.
