South florida soccer is about $$$$ not the kids

The whole south florida super cup and mega cup proves how soccer here is about the money and not the kids. The clubs are now telling coaches and teams which tournaments they can go to this soceer season. They say its so the clubs can have unified showing in tournaments. Thats such B.S.. They want there coaches and teams to support other clubs financially that support there own financial interest.

So then its about the money. They want you to fill the pockets of there buddies(club directors) by joining there tournaments and in return they too will fill there pockets (club directors) when they too have a tournament.

At the end of the year you will have participated in 4-5 local tournaments and it will be against the same 4-5 teams you played all year round. Thats after you invest $500-$800\team\tournament and probably have the same results each time.

So now a team\coach cant partake in a specific tournament because there club directors have there own personal\financial mishaps with a local club. At the end of the day its not about our children's interest or love for the game. is not about there development first. its about how our directors can fill there pockets on our kids expense. It about there big egos.

absolutely agree, but the whole system is corrupt, last year we were forced to go to a tournament in Naples army in the season. come to find out that it is run by the company that the southeast ussda scouts(michia) company ran..... and it was horrible.... we played in like 4 inches of rain on the field, and it was still of rec teams basically.... but since Kendall had something going with him we were forced to go.....

Florida is not the only place. North Texas is ridiculous. Big egos always follow big money.
Life is like playing goalkeeper, blink and the most important thing is past you.

For the most part, I will agree however there are exceptions to the rule even in South Florida. For example, my son's club is breaking away from the mold and the team will be playing different tournaments outside of the norm (Weston Cup, West Pines Cup, Kelme Cup (Naples), etc.). We are a relatively young team and we played those last year (6v6 though we played end of year tournament at Disney 8v8). This year, the coach is taking us to different tournaments so we can face different teams and improve our level of play.

I think what you describe is more prevalent at the bigger clubs like Weston, Pinecrest, Kendall etc because they each "promise" to support the other's tournaments. The smaller clubs that do not run their own tournaments do not need commitments from anyone and can play where they feel the best level of competition is and where the boys (or girls) will get the best exposure.

Just my honest opinion for what it is worth.

Really enjoy it for now Starting at U14 everything changes To stay competitive the big clubs swallow all the small clubs and you have no say in the matter of tournaments to attend

What you describe above is what Weston, West Pines , Mr. Jeff Pitarelly from Skills unlimited and Pinecrest Mega Cup are doing.

They have all negotiated if you take your teams to my tournament I will take my to yours and Mr. Pitarelly is offering discounts to his tournaments if you play in the Mega Cup because he is making money for every team that is signing in Mega Cup and has the guarantee from Pinecrest that they will put all their teams in all of his 20 tournaments during the year.
Pinecrest parents will need more than 5,000 to cover for all the tournaments that your director has promised that your team was going to participate

The tournaments make extra money for the clubs, not individuals! The clubs are all non-profits! Don't be so naïve! Local clubs put on these tournaments and invite other local clubs so they don't have to travel too far outside of the area to SAVE money for you and other parents. So it is all about the kids! And learn the difference between using THERE and THEIR!

This must be a club director. "non for profit" THEIR way out. Really. 100% of the money goes to the club. YEAH, OK. No one goes thru all the hassle and work to fight for positions or hold positions on the board because it was all for free. We all under stand how non for profit works. Only the ones on top get there hands in the cookie jar, while everyone else is sold a story about the importance of volunteer work. Tell me Mr Director that you don't make a cent on the tournaments. Maybe not directly, but you take as much as you can from the back door. Im sure you work hard and countless hours to raise all the money you can. Thats because you will be waiting in the back with a wheel barrel. Then you try to tell people its just for the club.

Our club has "recommended tournaments" and usually they are either convenient (Mega Cup, Weston, West Pines, etc) or the club has had good experiences with them in the past.

However, if I wanted to take my team to a different tournament I just have to let our DOC know ahead of time. As long as the parents were on board there wouldn't be any problem doing additional or different tournaments.

That may not be the norm for all soccer clubs though.

I know this is surely the case at Kendall, from the DOC to the President....most all have their hands in the cookie Jar.Hell they won't allow anyone to get into that circle of "Management" (mismanagement). the same 6-7 people rotating from one BOD position to another every year.

Non-profits can pay large salaries and as many salaries or administrative expenses as they want. They just cannot distribute profits or have owners. Non profits can be greedy just like for profit businesses.

Non profit doesn't mean charity (charitable non profits have much stricter rules).

90% of the competitive teams are playing Rec soccer wearing comp uniforms. It is a joke, a SCAM. But as parents you should be smart enough to figure it out by U12. When you hear your coach or club member talk of development, tell them to stick it up their lying ARSE. They are not fooling anybody.
