Wouldn't that make sense? I would expect the best players at OCYS to already be on a DA team. There may be a few players who move up or down, but if they selected the teams correctly, you wouldn't expect to see significant movement within the club. However, a player from another club may be better than a current player. That doesn't mean players are better developed elsewhere. That means the better players at OCYS are already on the team. You can go somewhere else in the hope that you will be "developed," but when you come back you have to be better than one of the current players in order to take their spot. If you aren't, it doesn't matter where you came from, you won't make the team.

How many players from other club's second teams have come to OCYS and made DA?

Hey, Moderator, why did that thread suddenly disappear? It's a valid question that many on TS would like to know the answer to. The tournament is now a week away, and they've yet to post the accepted teams list but more importantly the schedule. Those attending have to plan and need the schedule to do so.

So why did you delete? Are you affiliated with the club? But again, when will the schedule be posted!?

From what I am reading players from other clubs have a better chance at DA (they are better developed elsewhere).

Same for ECNL teams. In other words, if you don't make the DA/ECNL team then don't go to OCYS hoping that you will get promoted to that team. You are better off on the A team at a different club. Your will develop more than at OCYS due to the better coaching and greater attention and commitment given to the top teams. And OCYS has clearly stated and demonstrated that they will search out and poach the top talent irrespective of where they are playing.

I have heard the same thing. In the near future it will be the MLS DA teams that are the top tier for youth soccer and everything else is below them.

USSDA would lose most of its power and elite level status as the REAL players would all be at MLS clubs DA teams.

This is accurate. MLS academies start at U11 and run thru U17-18

One team per age group.

So 14 U11 players. Everyone else sucks and goes away. Thats great and only those 14 players in the entire Orlando area are worth a crap. The rest start playing checkers or go fishing.

Early Test

we spend 1550 + uniform = appx 2000 USD to be purple. For that peanuts money you get 2 days of Pro Coaches training? That is too much.
3 months pre-fall and 3 months pre-spring = 6 months / year. Total of 36 + 36 = 72 training sessions per year makes you Premier soccer players?
Whereas, they claim DA is free? and they get appx 350-400hrs of training/year??

We pay roughly $200 per year at FC Florida, thanks to sponsors, and we train 4 days each week with our head coach...Thomas Rongen...former head coach of US U20 and U21...head coach of MLS DC United...won MLS Cup.

BUT...last year we had no coach and we wanted to ease into the new season...BUT we draw OCYS Purple 1 in our first weekend...ugh...so much for easing our way in.

If every club does that, then it is an opportunity to be different and make it special reward and benefit to join OCYS in coming years.

1. OCYS needs to step up to develop and maintain their brand name. Otherwise it is just like the old FSA or EOS or CFU
2. Reducing training time and quality of training, SSP is absolutely b.s. in any known soccer standards. That s the main reason CM and GB are a curse to OC MLS. When I go to OC games, we meet loyal season ticket holders. Out of 19 parents I know, EVERYONE is unhappy about the way they operate at OCYS. Eeryone has contacted SR, CM, GB, their own team coaches in the last 16 months regarding the training issue. 6 of those are left this year and do not want to buy anymore season tickets even though they love soccer and live for that. If 19 parents I know have this issue, what about the rest of the parents whom I have no contact with? Possibly atleast 10% must have contacted the OCYS office one way or other and told to PISS-OFF.
3. OCYS: we will not contact you anymore. We will wait and observe. This is what we expect to happen asap:
a. send out a player survey to determine what your players expect from you as the service providers to the clients
b. Clearly establish how many hours are required for parents that invest and what is the ROI in terms of value.
c. If the survey shows less training is good enough, then stop GB and CM teams getting extra time than others.
d. If survey shows more time is needed then find a way to implement it through choices and options.
4. Point is : be clear on consistency and equal opportunity to all. This is critical because your coaches currently are not all equal and few good coaches you have cannot see everything. If you fail to provide that equal competition opportunity to all, irrespective of what the coaches think and bs opinion is, you are just circumventing the chances of many potential players. GB knows a lot and good in his own ways, but I have atleast 12 examples where he said are recreation players and currently in his premier teams. These supposedly rec players were left out earlier who went out, played wherever they got that opportunity outside OCYS, came back and replaced GBs previous favorite picks! What I mean is, players blossom at so many different stages of growth, killing their opportunity is a CRIMINAL act which is done by many of these self-proclaimed soccer gods.
5. Avoid revolt within the club and help yourself for a smooth MLS season opening by taking care of this very minor yet most important issue of training. We will not stop at nothing until we get what we expect: That is PRO quality for one and ALL.

You are an idiot. If you are so unhappy, go somewhere else. What you will find there is the same thing for the same money except without the top elite programs available if your child is a gifted athlete. You talk about equal treatment - wake up. Life is not fair. The better someone's skill set is the more money they make. The better someone's grades are the more college options they have. The smarter (better SAT/ACT scores) the more academic money. Life is not a level playing field. Teach your kid to work hard and apply themselves and they will be successful. If you teach them that everyone should be treated equal they will struggle.

You are an idiot. If you are so unhappy, go somewhere else. What you will find there is the same thing for the same money except without the top elite programs available if your child is a gifted athlete. You talk about equal treatment - wake up. Life is not fair. The better someone's skill set is the more money they make. The better someone's grades are the more college options they have. Except: To work hard is the part i am currently working on with my kid. You have failed provide that equal opportunity platform because you have opinionated decisions. This unfairness happens everywhere and every field and walk of life. But to a far less extent in our schools. It happens in all sports to certain extent definitely yes but to extreme extents need extreme measures. What is the problem with 3 days a week practice at a premier/pro club- answer that question to this idiot, my lord.

How much training to do the purple teams get? I know that FCA all players have automatic 3 with a possible 4 if they so desire. Rush is the same, I believe. If purple teams are only getting 2 then it's no wonder there is no promotion from purple to DA or ECNL - those kids on purple are getting left behind their competition in the marketplace.
