It's going to be a great soccer Weekend

Good luck to all of the teams that are playing in the various Columbus Day tournaments around Florida! Also many thanks to those that are hosting the events and supporting great soccer in the state.

The best part of the weekend is that for a change the weather statewide looks fantastic. Stay dry, stay hydrated and have fun!!

Here is the rule from US soccer
To maintain a focus on training, Academy teams do not play in any other leagues, tournaments, State Cup competitions, ODP or All-Star events without written permission from their Academy staff ( meaning their club)
My son is in Academy so here is a quote from a letter sent by Greg Brick

            High School Soccer:

As a Development Academy player you will not be allowed to participate in High School

Soccer. This is a US Soccer Federation rule. This includes middle school, high school, ID2,

ODP and any other outside programs.

Ask Greg what the issue is. I can post the entire letter if you want!

I just heard a few of the Academy parents are thinking of leaving because of the cost of the program. OC was supposed to pay more this year but have refused to do so.

              What is the deal?

Correction!! Id2 is not an option. You must be selected to participate. The reason we play is to make the national team. Id2 is the main road. No one can stop you from going in the national team. So please stop with the garbage. Next you will be told you can't play on the national team. Dumb assessing.

Troll Troll Troll. Lies Lies Lies. I am in the Academy and you are coming on here with your lies. There is absolutely no truth to this what so ever.

There will be no video. It's a new rule just in case there's another violent choking incident.

Seeing that the original poster said," we already pay good money".... one*would assume it's a paying parent/customer....and we all know they mean nothing to the directorship!

You either aren't very smart or you are young and ignorant. The DA is run by the US Soccer Federation. That is the National team. almost every time the DA plays and several other times throughout the year National team coaches and scouts are watching the DA players. They don't do the other leagues, ODPs etc because they are already in front of the scouts.

As well, US Soccer sets the rules about not playing in the other things. OCYS and Greg Brick has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Can Academy players participate with non-Academy teams during the season?
Full-time Academy players are only permitted to participate on their Academy team, and National Team duty.

Which teams participate in 10-month programming and do not allow high school participation?
The entire Academy program does not participate in high school programming. For a complete list of clubs and more information on the 10-month season, click click here.

How does participating in the Academy affect players being seen by elite coaches?
Academy competitions provide ideal opportunities for coaches to scout players in their natural environment. Over half of all Academy matches are observed by a member of the National Team scouting network.

Your kid is obviously not on the DA, if so you would know that all DA players pay a VERY reduced fee, club covering the rest. I have found that almost every club we have played pays much more than I am paying for the OC DA. Especially when talking to parents in SC and NC I have found that they far exceed what we pay here. Of course we have high team fees for travel however prior to tryouts we all fully understood that travel is involved with the DA. Since we do have travel fees it helps out considerably by OC picking up most of the club fees. There are several people I know paying more for their kid to play at other clubs right here in Orlando.

I know for a fact that other clubs in Orlando are more expensive. We went to ACYS tryouts one night and I am positive they are more expensive than OC. They might be the most expensive in Orlando but any club sport is costly and if your kid is playing at a competitive level you have to look at more than just the price.

How bad was our tournament this weekend. Seemed more like club scrimmages. On a positive no one was choked. Referees escaped weekend without even a slight chocking.
