Hah! This has nothing to do with talented kids, this has to do with money and overinflated egos.

Maybe the high school your child played for was accommodating, but I know a DOC at a club here that coached high school that took it out on players that went to a showcase and benched them.

That's the spirit. Vote with your feet, leave your real estate behind.

Rush and FCA will both gain from those who don't want in on this monster, but CFK will be gaining from these clubs as well.

This is last ditch effort to help other clubs tryouts and expect it to get worse as the date approaches. Like or don't like the staff at OCYS, they still have the most real soccer programs for elite soccer in town, ecnl and da. My child will probably not make those but still wants to be involved and wear an Orlando city shirt. If they make a state cup team, I would be thrilled but I guess I am more simple than all of you. I am sure you will bash but it is about the whole club and not just the elite player. You guys are just talking about a handful of the players in the club. If it is a 2500 person club, I estimate that about 150 would make up ecnl and da, that is only about 15% of the club. These players do carry the club for status and apparently gossip on talking soccer but I am sure you know that.

the FSA aquisition was about real estate first, soccer club second. The CFK aquisition was about club infrastructure first, management second, kids third. The kids were not the primary consideration in either case because if you can get fields and coaches and attach the words "elite" or "academy" to them, the kids will come.

What does this mean? Does it mean that you would like OCYS to put those current DOC's into two of those positions. I am sure that if they wanted those positions that they have put there names/resumes into the hat. Just because they have the license or are an ODP coach should that mean that they just give them the job. I know an ODP coach that does a terrible job coaching club teams, and he has all the required licenses. I would hate to see OCYS just put someone into place because of the license. How about their track record of coaching or possibly watching them on the field with a team. Maybe BP has been at practices this season to see how they work and interact with the kids to help him make a more informed decision about those people already in OCYS. If they are then qualified and more so than anyone else then I am on board with you. If not then I say don't give them a position just because they were already there. Everyone on this site talks about wanting change and to me it seems that you advocate giving a person a position just so that FSA has representation.

Maybe- are the DoCs at FSA nationally licensed? Apparently important for OCYS. Brick was originally "Director of Coaching" then got demoted to "Technical Director"- he has a Nat'l C license.

also consider that maybe some of the guys at FSA were offered positions but didn't accept for their own reasons. It could happen. Same as some qualified kids won't accept ECNL/DA.

I agree, but don't downplay a National A or B license. You don't find those in a popcorn box. any 16 year old can get a minor state license, but higher national level takes real work.

Oh... so the CFK people being aquired by OCYS are "leeches" trying to crash the great club FSA built? that's laughable- FSA was a club drowning in debt and hemorrhaging players for the last 3 years. OCYS bailed them out- and you act as though you've built something.

CFK was at least a club that was executing a business plan successfully- and growing. But even so, CFK saw the writing on the wall- they could either be aquired or try to go on as a primarily girls' soccer club with ECNL. They made the right decision.

But make no mistake about the relative value of CFK v FSA as a soccer organization to this merger. It's not even close. that's reflected in the proportion of CFK management now in OCYS.

I think you are reading too much into my question. It really doesn't mean anything - I'm just curious. I don't even know the guys and really could care less if they are given a position or not! Really just trying to gain some insight on how they are viewed by the new management structure, or maybe even opinions from people who know them at FSA. That's all this was about, no other agenda at all.
